I accidentally deleted my music folder off my backup drive on computer. When I synced iPad everything stayed on iPad AND iTunes library BUT obviously when trying to locate file when looking in iTunes there is no location found.
I don't have a back up I know of I can use and for arguments sake assume I don't. Is there a way to sync the music on iPad back to the library--if that makes sense?
iPads, Touches, iPhones, are all one-way sync - computer to device. There are third-party utilities that can do what you want such as Pod to Mac (there's a Windows version.) Look for them at any of the Windows software/shareware sites.
True, but only if they were purchased via your iDevice and not iTunes. Once on iTunes, however, they sync one-way as does everything else. The normal exceptions are documents and data that can be transferred from an iDevice to the computer, but these are limited to apps that can do such transfers.
Thanks for bringing this up since it helps clarify the topic which seems to be a problem for lots of users.
So if I have 2 computers on a single iTunes account, add a tune on computer #1 Then I go to the office and download a different tune on computer #2. How can I get both tunes on my iPad? If I synch it to #2, I lose everything that came from comp #1.
More importantly, If I buy computer #3, how do I get my library onto that computer?
In other words, what's the point of being able to synch to 5 computers if the minute you synch to 1 you lose anything that was on the others? I must be missing something.
If you download new stuff at onto one computer then you must also add it to the library on your other computer. Two ways this may be done. First, sync the item to your iDevice. Take the iDevice to the other computer and sync. The new purchase should sync to the iTunes library on the other computer. Second, copy the new tune to a USB flash drive, take it to the other computer then use iTunes to add it to your library on that computer. Then sync to your iDevice.
