Ipad3 wifi problems

Dear Apple Team:

In my ipad3, I have problems connecting then disconnecting within 2 minutes after connection. The device is 3 yards away from me and I experience the same problem with Skype , Face time google talk and Safari. . My Network router is Zyxel P-660HN-F1Z with latest available Firmware Version: 3.70(BJI.8)F0 .

The 2nd generation ipod I have with me does not have any problems. It is the ipad3.

am a senior Network Engineer , so I have tried updating the firmware of the router and it is working the same regardless of what I do. I have tested the wireless access point with laptop, Ipod and wifi phone and no problems. Only it is a problem with Ipad3.

What is your return/replacement policy, the item was purchased on March 17 2012. I have not used it (only twice for Skype testing) until yesterday when I landed in EU for an academic project in EU, that will last a month.

What is my options for return? I am not happy at all.

Best, Murad.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Hi Mr. Tom:

Thanks for the detailed and prompt reply. I appreciate all the information.

Unfortunately the guides you sent was tried, I tweaked the settings in the router as you have suggested but that did not help. How we can have Apple help us.

Do you think that I can get a refund or return the ipad3. I started to hate it, I regret the fact that I bought it.

This Zyxel DSL Router/Modem is really an expensive good device, so there is no way it is the router, it is the ipad3. It is functioning in three modes b/g/n.

Please let me know what you suggest in terms of returning the device or getting a replacement.

Best, Murad.

Not being funny but why should you have to change your whole network configuration to get a mobile device to work properly. Surely this device considering the cost should be able to connect faultlessly to any network. Or are we expected to go into offices and coffee shops and ask them to reconfigure their networks. I was considering buying an Ipad 3 but after reading all the problems that are still occuring i don't think i will bother.

I'm getting ready to return my second ipad due to this wifi issue. I can have laptops working fine and other wireless computers working fine and the ipad will keep losing it's connection. This one is better than the first one, but more often than not it loses connection to the server. I'm considering just getting a different tablet at this point. I mean it's too expensive to not work well,

My iPad3 has the same problem. Works OK near the router. Go upstairs (where my iTouch has 3 bars) and the iPad can't even find the network! Went to the Apple Store in Charlotte, NC SouthPark and the jerk Manager there Eric said "Maybe the iPad's not for you."

See this Youtube video. I was able to reproduce this on my iPad, the one they tried to exchange me in the Apple store, and a floor model in Best Buy.

It's the iPhone antenna problem all over again. Apple learned nothing. Once there's enough complaints they'll admit it close to the release date of the next model.

You're living in Apple dreamland MacMan. IPAD 3's ARE DEFECTIVE!

It's the iPhone antenna story all over again - Apple's not going to admit an issue until they have to - meaning not until there are plenty of complaints.

People - it's not your WiFi network that has been working fine, it's not your DNS, etc. It's the defective piece of junk that you just paid $600 for that doesn't work!

View this and repeat the issue on your iPad3. The app is free and called SpeedTest.net
