My iPad 3 shows the battery in red on the screen then then apple logo.

My iPad 3 is stuck in an iTunes recovery mode loop. the problem started when the tablet fell and just went black. I tried to restore it because at the time my iTunes could quickly recognise it and when it did the iPad made a sound after 5 seconds. after running the restore process on it over 4 times, nothing changed. I read a review saying you whack it on the back about 3 times and this worked and the first thing that showed on the screen was the battery with a small red bar left. it then switched to the apple logo then it went black. it kept doing this so I forced it into DFU mode by pressing together SLEEP and HOME buttons.

When i connect my iPad to either a wall charger or PC, after about 5 minutes the screen show the battery in red then the apple logo followed by the connect to iTunes screen. The connect to iTunes screen stays on for about 2 minutes and then it goes black and the same thing happens again.

This time when I connect it to iTunes, I have to wait for it to run through the same process (battery in red then the apple logo followed by the connect to iTunes screen) iTunes then picks it with a message telling me to restore it.

I downloaded the lasts iOS 7.1.2 externally and I have been trying to restore it but every time iTunes shows, 'waiting for iPad' the iPad goes black and I keep getting different error messages like error 4005, 11, 2002 afterwards. I cannot put it in recovery mode so that it is recognised immediately I connect it to my PC because it wont respond.

I have tried pressing the sleep/wake button together with the Home button but there is nothing happening. I tried holding the home button as I connect it to the PC but the iTunes logo still wont show.

PLEASE HELP, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
