Finger marks

We've had a 64GB ipad since UK launch and in general it's a new level of device. One problem though is the screen seems almost opaque due to finger marks most of the time. I know the screen has supposed to have the same oil-resistant coating as the 3GS iphone, but our iphones have nothing like the same problem. Anyone else seen this? Could it be a problem with my unit? Any advice for avoiding/minimising?

Welcome to the discussions.
"It isn’t the iPad – it’s you. I was having the same problem. So many smudges, it was making me sick to think my fingertips were so greasy. But after using it for 3 weeks now, I’ve realized, I’ve been touching it too hard. It only needs a very light tap, way lighter than you think. Way, way, way lighter. Try usIng the most gentle touch you can imagine. I mean, the barest, almost not touching, little tiny tap. And try using the very tip of your finger, not the pad. Jut the tip, right beneath the fingernail, not the fingerprint part. Same was with scrolling. Don’t drag your fingertip, just barely flick it. Reduces smudges by 90 per cent." ( Source).

This anti-glare film claims to reduce the visual impacts of glare and finger printing while providing scratch protection:

I have exactly the same problem with my iPad. The screen becomes covered in visible finger prints after a short time. I went to an Apple reseller looking for a screen protector / fingerprint guard and the assistant suggested n
It too bother because fitting a screen protector to an iPad is veeeeery hard.

So I didn't bother, and saved myself £16.

Tyrone ~ According to _user comments_ about +Power Support's+ _iPad Anti-Glare Film_, it is easy to install:
• "I thought installation would be much more difficult due to the screen size, it wasn't."
• "its hard not to brag about how easy they are to place"
• "it was fairly easy to install."
• "This product is so easy to apply."
• "it's relatively easy to put."
• "This was easy to apply"

And regarding fingerprints...
• "no fingerprints"
• "since I have this film on the screen, I have not had to wipe it clean once in 5 days."
• "It is the best cover on the market for reducing glare and for keeping fingerprints from adhering to the glass."
• "significantly decreases fingerprints."
• "Fingerprints gone."
• "much less debris and fingerprint oil"

Personally, I don't like screen protectors. They not only distort the beautiful resolution of the screen with dimpling effects, but they also ruin the smooth tactile effect of jour touch actions. If you have oily skin, the solution is very simple: wash your hands, use a very light touch, and periodically wipe the screen with a micro-fiber cloth.

You shouldn't need anything to protect your iPads screen. Rubbing your car keys over the screen will not scratch it, and you can only see finger prints when the screen is off (unless you like using your iPad with your hands covered in engine oil). Yes you can see loads of marks when the screen is not illuminated, so go ahead and wipe it with a cloth, though i find wiping it back and forth with the heel of my hand does a pretty good job of removing most of the finger grease.

Indeed the Power Support Anti Glare film was very easy to install, I was shocked at how simple it went on. It reduces the glare in a major way and sliding your finger over the film in my opinion is just as smooth as a naked screen. Some won't like that it does add some fuzziness to the display. I found by turning up the brightness on the display just a tad this helps with that. I am very pleased with it and highly recommend it.

For those that say you don't need a screen protector, don't believe these screens can't be scratched, they can. But the biggest issues is the terrible glare and the Power Support Anti Glair Film does the trick on that. Not to mention virtually eliminates the issue with fingerprints. I find I can use it in any light setting now without a problem.

I have one on my iPhone too!
