Videos and music syncs, but doesn't show up on iPad

I have been able to sync my iTunes library to my iPad with no problem until this last weekend. I already had several videos and tv shows on my iPad, and then i added a few more, synced, and before testing it, went on vacation without my computer for twelve days

When I open up videos, there are no videos on my iPad. When i open up the iPod app, there is no music on my iPad. When i look in the About section in settings, it says I'm using 58 of 59 available GB, but that there are zero videos and zero songs.

The memory in ny iPad is nearly full, as i thought it'd be after syncing a large amount of videos. Itunes on my computer showed that the iPad had videos on it, yet, no videos.

I've seen posts where others have had similar problems, and some have been able to resolve them with syncing over and over, but im on my vacation without my computer and can not sync. Im hoping that since the files definitely transferred (high memory utilization) but are not showing up in the apps, that there is a way to fix this problem on my ipad without syncing. I'd love to have my vids and music on vacation with me. Is there a way?

Prior to vacation, i had about half the iPad (64GB) loaded with videos and music. I left all of that on the iPad, and added even more. I synced it, checked in itunes that the iPad drop down lists were showing my vids and music, and then went on vacation. I never checked that the videos actually played after the sync. I never thought that would be necessary after seeing them in iTunes. Especially since the majority of them were ones that were remaining on my ipad and have always worked fine.

So the problem is that my iPad memory is full, the files definitely synced over, but the ipad is not recognizing them as videos and music. It lists zero ids, zero songs. Oddly, my photos, which i didn't touch, are working perfectly.

I'm confident that i could fix this by endlessly syncing when i get back home, however that 12 hour flight home would be a lot more entertaining if i could get this working without my computer

I'm hoping it's not corruption, but it is a possibility.

I tried a reboot just by holding the button 2 until i got a screen with a slider to power off, no success.

I haven't run the battery down fully, but will try that now.

One thing i can think of is doing some sort of file management, maybe through an application. My ipad is nearly full, and the apps don't take up much space. I'm wondering if i can free up some memory if that will cause some repointering or at least have the os take a look at the video and music files. I don't know how to do this though. My photos would be the place to start clearing space, but are synced to my computer and don't have a delete option in the photos app.

The other thing i have in mind is purchasing something off of itunes and seeing if that jogs the file system. Im not sure that it is a file system problem, but i don't have any other ideas.

Adding music via iTunes didn't solve the problem. The new music purchased shows up, but only the new music.

Running the battery down and having it boot that way also didn't do anything.

I haven't thought of a way to do file management other than through an app, and i cant find one that does what im looking for

Are there Apple support people on this forum? Seems like there should be an official response at least to say Apple is aware of this issue and working on a solution.

This problem happens frequently. Synch works one day, the next the on-device library is blank. Sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes resynching works. Sometimes you need to uncheck "Synch Music" and then resynch the entire music and video library.

This is an unacceptable experience especially if you happen to be leaving on a trip soon, etc.

It seems worse on my iPad but has happened enough times with iPods and iPhones too.

I have same issue. Selected albums and movies and they were synced just fine but when trying to see them on ipad it shows nothing. Tried cold restart and re sync. Tried switching to manual sync and back. It worked for a while and now still showing nothing.
I beleive this looks like some bug.
Hopefully it will be solved in ios 4 for ipad. I have no such issues on my 3gs and ipod touch 2g both on ios 4.0.2

I also have the same issue. Not as bad as the one mentioned originally. I sync my TV show over to Ipad. It was definitely copied to iPad as I could see the progress during copying and also I checked the memory usage as well. I could also see it in my iPad through iTunes. But, I could not find this TV show on the actual iPad, even searching it through spotlight search. Not in the iPod app, nor Videos app. Tried all the suggestions in this thread, namely: cold boot, restart, but still no luck.

After some sleepless night and updating iPad firmware but still no luck, I finally found the culprit. I previously set restriction not to display any tv shows on my ipad (general --> restrictions --> tv shows) long time ago but didn't remenber.. Silly me. Finally I can watch my recorded tv shows on my iPad. You should check if this helps you.
