No sound when charging.

When i plug my Ipad in to charge, I do not have sound. I do not even have the speaker icon in the middle of the screen when I press the volume rocker. But when I unplug, everything works as normal.

Anyone have this problem?

Ipad 3g + Wifi, iPhone OS 3.1.3

Are you using the cable and charger that was included with your ipad? because some 3rd party cables or older cables could cause your ipad to think it's plugged into a sound system. Also if you have a friend with an ipad you could try their cable/charger.

Have you checked for any thing like tin foil, metal wire, or a nail/pin caught in the dock or dock connector? because that could cause the dock to function in unexpected ways.

I guess you could also back up, restore the ipad, and before restoring your data back onto the ipad test to see if the issue still happens.

And when all else fails there is always the apple store, but they'll probable want to restore you ipad. So it's a good idea to back up, and try a restore before going into a store. www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

I had a similar problem with my iphone 4s. While charging, no audio output. I'd hit the volume buttons, and get zero response. I'd unplug, and they would be fine.

I found by changing my usb charger from a 3rd party Belkin to the Apple charger that came with the phone solved the problem. I can still go to sleep listening to Sam Harris lectures while my phone charges.

So, check your charging chord, that's likely the problem.

No sound when charging.
