m4r Ringtone Cannot be Copied to iPad

Hi,

I recently noticed that my wifi only iPad 4th Gen had lost 2 m4r format ringtones that were on there. I have still got the ringtones in iTunes, but for some reason it now says that "ringtone not copied to ipad because it can't be played on this device" when I have tried to put it on the device via iTunes. They have been on the device before, because one of them was used as the default for incoming e-mails.

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions about what I can do to get these ringtones back on my device. The tones themselves work fine on my iPhone 5s.

My iPad is using 8.1.2, and I am using iTunes 12.0.1.26.

I have posted this on the iTunes forum as well, as it kind of crosses between the 2 areas, and I'm not sure which is the best place to get assistance.

Hi Nubz,

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately these aren't ringtones from the iTunes Store, but ones that I have made and saved as m4r files. The tones work fine on my phone, so I don't think there is any problem with the files.

I have done a full wipe, setup and restore, having uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes first.
