I think the title says it all. How do you find the auto correction on your iPad? Do you like the way it works? Would you like to see any improvements? I personally have been using it a lot and I now hate it. I hate it because it automatically corrects me without first asking me if I want the proposed changes. I would very much prefer to have an auto correction system that suggests one to three words. If the user doesn't specifically choose one of the suggested words, the system shouldn't change anything.

Auto correction on the iPhone works exactly as bad as on the iPad, but I still have it enabled on my phone because of the smaller keyboard.

It sucks. But it is right 50.1% of the time, so I haven't disabled it.

The most frustrating time is when it 'corrects' my login names or passwords.

If they could put an on/off switch on the keyboard itself, that might help a bit. I would like selective control of what it corrects (I almost never use contractions, "it's" has really come to annoy me), and it might be nice if it could look at what it is doing (e.g., see? I am inserting this letter into the middle of a word: why would you think I want it capitalized??). But much of the time, it helps me avoid fixing my typos, so I leave it on.

I think it would really benefit if it just offered sugegstions that are not obtrusive. I understand the logic behind the current implementation (to achieve a no worries typing), but in the real world that doesn't work very well. I hope Apple changes this behaviour in iOS 5.

For the most part I like it and use it daily on the iPad and iPhone, you kind of get used to to some of it's quirks.
But there is always room for improvement.
