OK, it seems most people use Facebook. Anyone care to speculate which version (Facebook mobile app versus full fledge Facebook Safari) will be more iPad friendly? I use the mobile version on my iPhone but times it can be buggy and some features do not work. I would rather use Facebook via Safari than via the app but will really know in 3 weeks.

I see no reason the site won't work fine. The only thing that might be a problem would be the chat features. They might use flash for that.

If they don't make an iPad version, then I will use the full site. I'd love to see a version for the iPad that is a hybrid of the iPhone version and the actual site. Basically take the site and make it touch friendly.

I think this alludes to a fundamental question about the relative usefulness of apps on the iPad. Many companies have condensed the functionality of their regular site into an iPhone app and not much more; in those cases the bigger screen and (hopefully) faster processor will obviate the need in these cases.

I'm a fan of the facebook iphone app. It is much quicker IMO then the mobile browser version and retains all the features I really want.

As for the iPad I can almost guaranty that facebook will create an optimized app, and if not then I will be using safari and the normal facebook site (not the mobile version).

about 10 minutes in to the keynote, Jobs describes the web browsing experience and shows it running the full FB site. Although, we all know what can happen with Apple and still images...

I'm sure there will be an iPad optimized app. I bet it will look much more like the website with different sections running down the left hand side, etc. now that there's more space.

FWIW, on my iPhone, I prefer http://touch.facebook.com/ to the Facebook app.
I find it works better when sometimes the FB app refuses to update.

Heck I prefer that site for browsing FB on my regular computer...it's better than the current design they have.
