Re-sizing of photos

One of my major gripes about the iPhone is that the Photos app resizes Large JPEGs losing all detail. There are third party apps that allow you to import large JEPGs and Tiff but the zoom and pan quality/speed is dreadful (at least on the iPhone 3G). Does the iPad allow import of such images and is the performance when zoomed in any good (particularly for large Tiff files)?

Thanks for any information you can give as this is the deciding factor for me purchasing an iPad.

Chuck - My response isn't exactly on point, but, I resize JPG image proofs to 1024x768 pixels (the iPad screen size) and they look great, lots of detail. I use the same process for my Samsung 53" LCD screen except size to 3840x2160 with spectacular results.

I'm a professional photographer, and I'm going to use iPads to present proofs to my customers. Hope this helps - IM

My Workflow in Photoshop CS4
1) Resize to 1028x768 where possible
2) Convert to profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (Screen)
