Slow SMTP (outgoing mail) on my iPad

What exactly are you trying to send out? Is it a lengthy e-mail?

I was going to start a new thread on this, but I have exactly the same problem with my new iPad.

WiFi sending emails takes about 8-9 minutes to go ...

If I turn OFF wifi and turn ON 3G, the email sending from all email boxes is instant ....

Anyone know why this is?

I am having intermittant problems with sending email. When an email or two 'sticks' in the outbox, it seems to freeze all Mail comms, stopping incoming email traffic. Mail however also keeps on trying, so that the recipients are receiving multiple copies. Which is unfortunate as in a curious organisation, people are seeing the 'sent by iPad' tag line and understand that my new machine is causing problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm experiencing exactly the same thing...

I have the same problem. I can't see what the issue can be as my settings are identical to my iPhone and iMac.

I was having bad smtp issues as well (with my iPad connected via WiFi). I found another thread that said to change the outgoing port to 25. I did (even though my laptop and desktop are like 995 and 110). I tried port 25 and so far so good. Emails fire right off. Hope it helps!! Not sure why, but seems to work.

I have spoken to my IT department and they say I am using the exchange connector, so the SMTP fix would not work for me. It does point towards a possible software bug, possibly to do with secure connections seeing as changing from the secure SMTP port to the insecure one makes a difference.
