my ipad is disabled

"iPad is disabled" connect to iTunes. That's a message on my ipad's screen. I've never synced ipad to any computer as i don't have one, so I've used someone's laptop to connect ipad to itunes (i've downloaded itunes on it). When i did that, a message on hte computer's screen came up: "itunes could not connect to the ipad „ipad“ because it‘s locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your ipad before it can be used with itunes.“

Then I followed this (see below) but only up to the sixth point, as it never allowed me to restore it, instead i waited for an hour for itunes to download something, that disapeared and nothing happened as soon as the download was over. :

„Use recovery mode

Follow these steps if you never synced your device with iTunes, if you don't have Find My iPhone set up, or if you can't get to your own computer. You'll need to put your device in recovery mode, which will erase the device and its passcode. Then you'll restore your device as new or from a backup.

  1. 1.Disconnect all cables from your device.
  2. 2.Turn off your device.
  3. 3.Press and hold the Home button. While holding the Home button, connect your device to iTunes. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on.
  4. 4.Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
  5. 5.iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
  6. 6.Click OK, then restore the device'

You are actually doing the only thing that you can do at this point. Sometimes recovery mode can take several tries and I'm sure that it can be frustrating if you need to keep trying over and over again. But my advice is to just keep trying. I have read stories here where some people claimed that it took many, many attempts before recovery mode worked for them.

I would also suggest that you disable the firewall and antivirus software on the computer that you are using until the restore completes. Sometimes, those can interfere with the software download on a Windows computer.
