NO - at least in the 'stock' iPad (cannot comment on a jailbroken iDevice) - your best choice is to 'hide' an app(s) in a folder or place them on a far 'home screen' that others may not explore - you might want to tell us 'what' you want to hide? As an example, I have several password protected apps (one for images) - Dave :)

Images I don't need the world to see.

Well, I use Private Photo by Linkus for that purpose (a $3 purchase for the Pro version) - images can be imported into the app and organized; password protection can be set; once imported the images can be deleted from the native Photo program - backup off the iPad is easily done. Dave :)

There are password protected apps that will store images and videos you don't want others to see. I just tried a search in the App Store for secure image and got quite a few results. Try it yourself and see if any of the offered apps will suit your needs.
