I've tried everything. Restarted my Macbook, restarted the iPad, uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes and my iPad will not open up in iTunes. It will open up iPhoto, though, but I have no photos to import because I cant even set up the iPad into iTunes! So mad, can anyone help???
I'm assuming you're running iTunes 9.1. Is the iPad showing up in the Apple System Profiler? Are you direct connecting to the computer or going through a keyboard or hub?
Ditto. I've restarted my MacBook Pro (2007), restarted the iPad, checked that iTunes is latest version (9.1) and can't get iPad to show up in iTunes. It shows up in iPhoto. The iPad screen keeps the same image suggesting I need to connect to iTunes. Really surprised no answer on this yet.
And ditto again. Having precisely the same problem described above. Have taken all recommended steps. Incredibly frustrating. Appreciate any suggestions/help.
I had the same problem, iPad would not talk to my itunes. I "updated" itunes. iTunes version said "9.0"....hmmm...still not "9.1" even though that is what it was suppose to "update" too. So, I uninstalled iTunes as per the Apple support page "Removing iTunes for Mac OS X". I then downloaded and installed iTunes 9.1 (again). This time iTunes said the version number was "9.1". And my iPad connected ok.
I tried every tip and have even uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes 3 times now. Still cannot get ITunes to recognize IPad. Apple support unable to help. Real irony here. Ipad is hyped as easy tool but I have never had such difficulty with technology in my whole life.
.
I plan to use my daughter's computer tomorrow. If it Ipad works on hers, then yes, I have a setup problem. But unfortunately, knowing I have a problem with setup does not identify what the setup problem is. That's what is so frustrating about this.
It's all part of isolation, which is the key to troubleshooting. If you know it works on another computer then you won't waste time taking it to the Apple Store. Once you've isolated it I'd recommend starting a new thread here so you can get direct attention from someone with more Windows knowledge than I have.
I have already pretty much assumed that my IPad will work on another computer. So my intent is simply to be honest when I continue my dialogue with Apple support; i.e. yes, to their question whether it works on another computer. I do like your suggestion to open up a new thread. By the way, my IPod works fine. Strange isn't it?
Thanks for listening and thanks for your suggestions.
Have you tried doing a soft reset on the iPad? It's done the same way as the iPhone & iPod Touch. Hold down the power button [@ the top of the iPad} along with the home button until you see the apple icon.
I had the same problem with one of the iPads in the office. It wouldn't show up on the computer. Of course you should be running iTunes 9.1. But did the soft reset and it popped right up in iTunes.
