Apps :: Got "Low Memory" Warning - App To Manage The Memory Usage?
Apr 22, 2010
I only have a 16 Ipad. (till the 3Gs come out.)
Short Version: Got "Low Memory" warning today! Is there an App to manage the memory usage? (to list what apps/items are using what amount of memory?)
Yes... Of COURSE I have installed many apps.Lots of News apps. (Reuters, NPR, NYT, BBC, Weather Channel, several others) Lots of the solitaire apps. Several simple games. None of the really high graphic ones. Sticky notes, Drawing programs. Lots of other apps. NO music yet. NO photos yet.
I haven't even started syncing any files from the desktop machine. So, is there anything to analyze where my heavy memory use is?
Getting Error 3194 Then Error 1604 - Stuck After Recovery ?
Sep 22, 2011
I have an iPad 1G OS: 3.2 and it's jailbroken i want to restore/update it to OS : 4.3.3 so i got tinyumbrella and iREB ( cause i was getting error 3194 then error 1604 ) with both of these programs running i was able to get the restore going.
Everything was fine and at the end itunes told me that my iPad was restored and it will appear on the itunes screen after 10 seconds but what i got was a message that itunes detects an iPad in recovery mode and it needs restoring. i've tried restoring it again but i get the same message. also my iPad's screen is now black, it won't turn on. i've tried pressing fix recovery in tinyumbrella but it won't work and i've tried pressing exit recovery but nothing happens and if i press the home and power buttons together nothing happens! i don't know what else to do. and my pc is windows vista not mac.

This is what the Debug Console says and occasionally it comes up on my screen. The awkward thing is the fact that I keep getting this message long with Safari closing suddenly when I try to do a search on a professional site ONLY at times. This is very annoying particularly that I would have to redo the login procedure.
Ios 4.2 Update Error - There Was An Error Downloading The Software?
Dec 10, 2010
Super excited to get 4.2.1 up and running. I had the buggy beta of 4.2 running on my iPad but now when I try to restore my iPad to get the most recent version of 4.2.1 running, I get this error:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The requested resource was not found.
I've restarted iTunes and the computer and I'm still getting the same error. I've looked for the .ipsw file online but can't seem to find it anywhere. It's not an Apple's Support/Downloads section either.
Anyone know where to download the new update? I'm dying without Airplay, Airprint and so on not working here.
Information: Mac Mini, 27" LED Display Mac OS X (10.6.5)
A couple of days ago my iPad suddenly said: "connect to iTunes" and when I did, I got a message that it needed to be restored. A bit annoying, but OK. The problem is that when I try to restore I get the message: "an unknown error occurred. Error 1603"I found some information on Apples website, and followed the steps, but nothing works.
Error Saying - Could Not Be Restored - An Unknown Error Occurred (40)
Aug 29, 2012
Here is an email I've drafted out in attempt to send to Apple but instead they have me an error saying,"We're sorry, the transaction cannot be completed at this time. Please try again later or contact us." Twice...
Recently I've had my iPad hang. It hung for so long I decided to restart my iPad so I held the sleep button and home button until it restarted on its own.
Upon restarting, the Apple logo displayed as per usual and then came the iTunes logo and a picture of a USB below pointing to the iTunes logo. I assume this is the recovery mode. So I proceeded to click "Restore". It started downloading the update and went on to restore my iPad.
At the end of the restoration then came the error saying,"The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (40)."
This would not be a PC issue as I tried restoring it from my laptop which failed and so I tried it on my PC which failed as well. My network is also not the issue as I am fully connected to the internet with no issue syncing my other Apple devices and updating etc.. And since I have been able to sync with no problem (both on my laptop and my PC) for my other Apple devices, I strongly believe that it is not an issue with my security software.
I've read somewhere on the internet saying,"..due to out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software". Could it be that some part of the software on my iPad that saves the date stopped on that very day when it became "bricked"? And that now it is another date and that conflicts with the part of the software that uses this information? Would it help if I changed my desktop's date and try again? Please understand that at this point in time I've tried all I can and frankly am frustrated already. So I would like to know if it would work before trying.
So I've decided to make a trip down to a local Apple authorised service provider to see if they can fix this. They have stated that it is an issue that customers face and that some can be restored and some can not be restored. They then tried to restore for two times and concluded to me that the device is unable to be restored. They went on to offer me a 1-to-1 replacement where I would have to send in my current unit and pay a fee of S$400++ to have it replaced for a brand new iPad version 1 with the exact same specifications.
Tell me frankly and honestly that this offer is genuinely a good offer and I will take it. But take no offence; who in the right mind is going to pay 400 bucks for a device that is two generations backdated.
The apple authorised service provider also stated that the problem with my iPad was that of a hardware issue. I have no dropped it a single time, I have not ever used it until its burning hot, and there isn't a single tinge of a burnt smell coming off from it. If what they say is true then I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the lifespan of this iPad. And the standard 1-year warranty is definitely not fair for a product like this. You have to agree that in a mass production no matter how careful or accurate manufacturing machines are there are bound to have issues that may have produced a compromised product.
So here's a quick summary of the things I've tried:
- opened iTunes, connected device, set to DFU mode and tried restoring.
- tried with a laptop, PC Desktop.
- tried with a different 18 pin USB cable.
- tried self-diagnosing the issue after reading your troubleshooting page, iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
- delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) and retried restoring again.
- sent to an Apple authorised service provider located at, eServ@313Somerset by Micro 2000 Technology Pte Ltd (6.5 kms) 313@Somerset (Somerset MRT), #B3-22 (Beside M1), 313 Orchard Road, Singapore 238895
All of which ended with a disappointment that my iPad died out of the blue and is now still unable to be restored back to factory settings.
Memory Is Full - What Is All The Memory In "other" Being Used For
Jun 28, 2012
My iPad memory is full. The iPad reports I have used more then 6GB of memory in "Other." The categories such as photos, music, videos etc are only modestly using memory. Where is all this "Other" memory being applied?
IPad 2 :: App Store Error "An Unknown Error Has Occurred" Message
Mar 17, 2012
I am using ipad2 with version 5.1. Whenever I try to use the app store either to update an app or to get a new app I get the message "An unknown error has occurred." There is no error number. This started yesterday I believe. I know there are many similar questions on this site, but I haven't found a solution that works for me. I have tried powering off and back on again. My wifi connection is good. I also have an ipod (2nd generation), and I am not having a problem with that. Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

ITunes Repeatedly Gives Me Unspecified Error 9 Or Unspecified Error 1611?
Jun 4, 2012
I am trying to restore my iPad. iTunes repeatedly gives me unspecified error 9 or unspecified error 1611. I have tried multiple ports and multiple PCs I have disabled all security software. My USB ports are 2.0 What is this all about?
I have a 64Gb iPad and mainly use this for videos and apps when on the plan. When connected to iTunes it reports that almost 15Gb of memory has been used for Apps, but the largest app I have installed is just 130Mb;I'm have many apps installed however and I suspect that one of them has a large internal store (ie downloaded files like magazines) but how can I find out which? Is there another app or another method which I can which will report which of my Apps is using the most storage space so I can reclaim some of this?
