Connect To Windows Based Dekstop Via ISSH Or Putty?

Apr 25, 2012

Recently I downloaded Open SSH, iSSH in my ipad and putty and winscp in my dekstop. I've been trying many guide about how to "root" but somehow none of them works (it always shows connection time out). The connection I am using is provided by my office since I am living in the dorm. In the end all I want is to be able to copy and paste files from both side of dekstop and Ipad without Itunes and remote controlled both of my device.

My questions are:

-What can SSH do with both dekstop and Ipad in my hand? ( Just to be sure since I am totally new to network)

-How to connect ipad to Windows based dekstop via iSSH or putty?

- Is it possible that the network do not allow SSH connection since it also banned any connection to online games?

Server Connect With Windows Live Mail

Jul 29, 2010

I'm about 2/3 of the way through my trial period with MobileMe. I have two PCs (a Toshiba Satellite laptop and a Dell Studio i7), an iPhone 3GS and a Wi-Fi/3G iPad. I use the most current Microsoft email platform - Windows Live Mail - for email, contacts and calendaring on both my PCs. When setting up the iPad for sync, iTunes seems to indicate that the iPad will only sync calendars with Outlook, however. When I use Windows Live's servers to deliver my mail the iPad is unable to connect to the pop3.live.com server consisitently. Apple support says Microsoft is responsible for this problem but Windows Live has been consistently reliable and works well with the iPhone. I haven't been able to get MobileMe to work. I have heard in other forums that the pop3 non-connect is a known problem

Won't Work With Linux Based Media Server

Nov 21, 2010

I have centralized media server in my house that is a small ION powered linux box with a 2TB drive in it. It holds all of my pictures, music, and videos. Also in my house I have a couple of macbooks, 2 iphones, and an ipad.

Does anyone have any suggestions for streaming media from my Linux box to my IOS devices? The best thing that I have found so far (but haven't actually tried) is sharing everything as SMB and using the IOS Filebrowser/NetPortal apps.

I'd love a Plex-based solution, but they don't seem very interested in Linux.

Any other workable solutions out there?

General :: Windows Based Laptop To Be Compatible To Use With IPad 2

Jun 22, 2013

I have had my iPad 2 for a couple of years now. What would be the best Windows based Laptop to be compatible to use with my iPad.

Ideally, iMac Pro.I am running out of storage and I would like to be able to burn stuff with an optical drive. So far my research has led me to the Sony Vaio range.

And I was also considering the 'Kingston Wi Fi external storage device' as an option, can not really afford iCloud Backup at the moment.

View Windows 7 Desktop Remotely From An Ipad

Mar 7, 2012

I often need access to previous sent/received emails and documents which makes it a pain to use my Blackberry as the screen/viewing is so small. Enter the idea of an ipad. Great for emailing on a 3G connection and you can actually see what you're typing and documents.

However, seeing historical emails is the problem. I currently use a desktop at home with Windows 7 64 bit. My email is on Outlook. Is there any method by which I can view my desktop remotely from an ipad and so view my emails, docs etc.

AirPrint And Windows Home Server Without ITunes?

Nov 25, 2010

New to the forum and I didn't really see an appropriate place to put this so if it should be somewhere else please move it. Also posted this elsewhere and the only feedback I got so far is apparently this works in Vail too. Works great for me. This is the bare minimum you need to get AirPrint working on a Windows Home Server. Assumes you have your ios 4.2.1 device on the same network as your Windows Home Server. Why use WHS? Because it should be running and available all the time. Your favorite computer you use iTunes on may not always be on or connected. 1. RDP into your homeserver, use the administrator account.2. Install drivers for your printer, share it and make it your default printer (not covered here, same as any other computer). If you have the option I would strongly suggest you chose a driver only install,

RDP App For It On Windows Server 2003 With Account Login?

Jul 26, 2011

My company has a client medical office that has two first-generation iPads needing to RDP into their server to use an application for patients. We tried MochaSoft's RDP Lite but the users needed administrative rights on the server to log in. Next we tried Splashtop, but iPad #1 automatically connects to the Administrator session (which needs to stay logged in for the server side of Splashtop to run) and if iPad #1 is connected via Splashtop, iPad #2 can't connect via Splashtop. We need a reliable iPad RDP app which requires users to log in, doesn't require administrative permissions for the user accounts, and ideally doesn't require a third-party listening or web-based application on the server.

Access Reports From A Secured Windows Server On IPad 2?

Aug 5, 2011

I receive a daily email from my company, with a links in the body of the email, in the following format:

[url]...

(beginning of URL removed from link to allow post - new users must have 3 posts before links are allowed)

When I click the link on my Windows PC or laptop (either at the office or when working remotely) I get a window where I enter an ID and password to access the server and then the report is shown in my browser. These reports reside on a Windows server at our office.

When I select this same link on the iPad2 I get prompted for the ID and password but after I enter them I get an error, after a minute or so, stating "Cannot Open Page" "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".
