Computer Were Syncing OK - Now Computer Thinks It's A Camera

Nov 23, 2010

Until two weeks ago I had no problem with syncing. Last night when I plugged the usb cable in I got a tray alert saying <Found new hardware, click here to install>. I unplugged the usb, shut the computer down completely then rebooted it. I did the same sequence with the Ipad. I replugged the usb in and got the same alert so I clicked the bubble to see what would happen. After a few moments a popup headed Apple Ipad screened offering camera-related options.

What must I do to recover the syncing? If I have to uninstall the camera how do I do that? What else do I have to do?

Syncing To A Different Computer

Apr 5, 2010

My main iTunes library is on a G4 PowerBook running 10.4.11, so I couldn't use the iPad with it.

I instead plugged it in to my Vista PC just so I could use it.

Question: If I were to upgrade my PowerBook to 10.5, or use the iPad from my work computer running 10.6 and then set it up as the iPad's host, what would be the best way to ensure that I don't lose all of the apps that I have purchased and/or downloaded on my iPad?

Syncing With New Computer

I am moving away from the PC world and moving to an IMac. I don't want to blow out all my downloaded apps or books. And that appears to have happened. I will be resyncing with my PC until I find an answer. Is there a safe way to sync between the two without a "we need to delete everything here"?

Syncing With Another Computer

When I first got my iPad, I synced it with one computer, but now I need to change computers and the new one says "The iPad is synced with another iTunes library" and asks to erase the contents of the iPad.

Does anyone know how to transfer the syncing to another computer?

Syncing 2 On The Same Computer?

I'm currently using an iPad 1 with iOS 4.3, and my father is considering buying an iPad 2. My question is will there be any problems syncing both iPads on the same PC? Will iTunes be able to differentiate between the 2 iPads and keep the apps separate?

Syncing With A New Computer?

May 27, 2012

So the other day, my PC suddenly lost all its contents, apps, music, iTunes, photos, etc. But I have all the stuffs in my iPad. BUT, however, when I tried to connect and sync my iPad 2 to my repaired computer, it say that I have to erase all the contents of my iPad and replace with the contents of my computer which doesn't even have anything. So I was pretty jammed and stuck with this thing. I'm wondering if there is any solution to this issue about moving all the contents of my iPad and copy them to my PC without erasing anything in it.

Handle Syncing - On One Computer

Apr 24, 2010

Based upon my limited knowledge thus far of the way you start out using the iPad, my understanding is that you sync it with iTunes and select how you want to fill it perhaps with a backup from your iPhone 3GS.If this is true, all of the apps currently on your iPhone 3GS will show up on the new iPad after syncing. But I don't want alot of those apps since I've purchased HD versions specifically for the iPad. Will there be a way to delete only certain apps from the iPad without worry that it will effect my iPhone 3GS?In the future, when I buy an HD app off the iTunes store, will it automatically be added to the iPad during syncing? The same thing with regular apps?

Will A New Work Out Of The Box Without Syncing It To A Computer?

Dec 4, 2010

While I understand the reason for syncing an IPAD to your computer via ITUNES, I was wondering if the IPAD will work out of the box without syncing? I bought an IPAD for my wife for Christmas and she wants to sync it to her work computer (her own small business). She's new to Apple and she doesn't have an ITUNES account yet. By the way, she knows she's getting an IPAD for Christmas. We don't want to go to her work on Christmas day to get her IPAD "going."

Question: Can she open the IPAD on Christmas day and have it work or will we have to get her an ITUNES account and have her sync it to her work computer prior to Christmas for it to work on Christmas day?

I would prefer to keep it boxed up until Christmas but I'd like her to be able to use it on Christmas day and then after Christmas go to her work to download ITUNES and sync it to her computer.

Syncing Video From Your Computer

Apr 20, 2010

Has anyone actually gotten a video to sync? That is, not something purchased from iTunes but a local video (i.e. from your digital camera.) http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/ lists the following support:

H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

Yet when I encode a video in H.264 according to the specs above, using Microsoft Expression Encoder, and drop it in my Photos sync folder, iTunes says it is "syncing 1 photo of 1" but I can't see it in the Photos or Videos app on my iPad.

iTunes help says you can have iTunes reencode your video to work on the device if it isn't syncing, but the first step is to "select your video" and then go to the advanced menu... Except that I can't find any way to actually select a video from my local computer within iTunes.

Help?

Different Users Syncing On Same Computer

Nov 10, 2010

Hello all, this is a great forum, and many thanks in advance for your help. I'm not sure where to post this but syncing seemed the most appropriate place.

I have a 4G ipod touch - all works fine. BUT I want to get my mother an ipad so we can keep in touch during periods when I'll be away (for 3-4 months).

I'd like your ideas on any possible issues, my thoughts are:

1) Both devices will sync from my iMac (iTunes 10.0.1) am I right in thinking that the user settings for apps like mail and facebook are set in the device and will not be affected during syncing with iTunes? Apps like contacts and calendar I would not sync for her - anyway, she uses paper ones...

2) will her ipad be ok if not synced with iTunes for a period of time? 3-4 months

Many thanks, and if you can think of other issues, I'd be grateful, as I don't want to fork out £429 for something that would not work well for us.
