IPad Air 2 :: Locked With Passcode Message When Connected To ITunes (Mac) But It Is Unlocked
Dec 5, 2014
When I connect my new iPad air 2 via lightning cable to my Mac I get the message to unlock my iPad air 2 in order to connect, download photos, etc.
But my iPad air 2 is unlocked and displaying the home screen. I have tried switching USB ports, restarting the iPad air 2 and resetting by holding the power & home button down, but neither of these fixes the issue.

Make IPad 2 Stay Tethered To IPhone Even When It Is Locked?
Apr 14, 2012
The connection always drops out after a few inactive minutes and I need to go back to the iPhone personal hotspot settings to make it work again... Make iPad 2 stay tethered to iPhone even when iPhone is locked?
About 2 months ago, I've lost my iPad, that was updated with iOS 4.[something]. I locked it with "Find My iPhone". I found my iPad after a week (and it wasn't locked) and just recently I've updated it to 5.0.1... but then the locking was activated... and I don't remember the passcode... so what can I do to start it from scratch or somethig without opening it?
I am living in Canada and plan going to the State to buy a ipad wifi with 3G in US because it is cheaper than Canada.Does anyone know the ipad 3G bought in US and also use in Canada (use ipad data plan with Rogers)? Is the sim is unlocked that I can use it anywhere?
i'm in the uk and was excited that the ipad will finally be coming, but i'm a singaporean and will be moving back in july. i was therefore tempted to buy the ipad here but had a lingering doubt whether an ipad 3g bought here will work equally well in other countries.
so i called up the apple hotline to get an official word on this, and i was surprised to hear him say "the ipad 3g is built to work only on the 3g frequencies from the region it was sold", which logically means the same ipad 3g will not work in BOTH singapore and uk. so a frequent traveller between both countries like myself will need TWO ipads to use the 3g in both countries. how dumb is that?
i then further clarified whether it will "not work at all" or be merely "deficient in performance", and he said it will not WORK at all, at least for 3G. i said "that's strange, since the iphone 3gs bought in singapore works in the UK. why shouldn't the ipad 3g be the same?" he replied "the ipad 3g is built differently."
as if to offer some sort of consolation, he then added "the wifi will work everywhere though", as if i didnt already know that.
there are rumors proliferating online that the ipad 3g will work everywhere, especially since steve himself said so; i'm not so sure who's right anymore.
the big question is whether i should take a leap and buy a 3g here, and gamble that it will not work in singapore, because in any case even if i wait to buy an ipad 3g in singapore according to him it wouldn't work in the uk either. which is realllly sad because i'm an international student in the UK and will likely be travelling back and forth for the next 4 years.
So I have ver 4.2.1 on my ipad and recently the batt died when I was dl'ing a game. Since then, it just sits on the blank screen with the apple logo on it. I tried connecting to the itunes but it says it's locked with a password and it must be unlocked. Unfortunately, the screen never lets me enter my pw, it just has the apple logo screen.I tried to reset the unit via the reset pinhole button but no change.
I live in Tokyo, but I frequent other countries like the USA. I was wondering since iPad offers a prepaid service, it's unlocked and no contract, would it be possible to use 3G service in different countries on that same device? If they offer a similar plan as AT&T. Example I bring to the device to Japan and under carriers it allows me to select Soft Bank, I bring it to Germany I can select T-Mobile or if I bring it to the states I can select AT&T
Okay there seems to be some confusion here and I'd like to sort it out
This is a quote from the iPad manual on Apple.com
iPad is unlocked, so you can choose your preferred carrier. Cellular data settings vary depending on the carrier. If you choose a carrier other than AT&T (U.S. only), contact them to set up an account and to obtain a compatible micro-SIM card.
The iPad IS unlocked but you can only use it on AT&T in the US, which lead people (and apparently apple employees) to believe it was locked to AT&T.
You can take your USA iPad up to Canada (for example) when it is released along side of microsims and use your iPad there, it is NOT locked to any certain company, the only reason you can only use it in the states on AT&T is because of the deal they have with AT&T and the availability of microsims
I'm going to get the new ipad with wifi and 4G from US. but i saw it shows that I have to choose either AT&T or varizon. Could i buy the new ipad with wifi and 4G but without buy a at&t or varizon SIM card? Is that means after you choose AT&T or varizon, when you go to another country #you can NOT put other SIM card?
Everytime you lock it(pressing the sleep button) or it locks by itself, it's pretty impossible to unlock it. It just stays on the black screen. When you connect it to iTunes, it seems to be on, since iTunes recognizes it. By the way, the hard reset doesn't seem to work either. Whenever you press and hold Home/Sleep buttons, nothing happens(sometimes it restarts, but most it doesn't). When you connect it to a charger it makes a periodic sound(when it's on the black screen after it's locked and can't be unlocked).
I've had this issue since upgrading to iOS 5 on my iPad. When I unlock my iPad, I get a bunch of notifications and alerts come in at once. Why haven't these notifications been pushed when they occur like with my iPhone? It's annoying to get a bunch of beeps and alerts when I unlock my iPad.
