I love the iPad, but I can't figure out why Apple introduced it to the world with that ugly background picture/wallpaper. Anyplace we can go to see the other ones that are on the iPad out of the box? (Yeah, I have plenty of my own photos I'll be using, too)
IPad 3 :: How To Change Safari Background Colors Back
Jun 23, 2014
I was cleaning my iPad3 screen & when I finished the background colors on my Safari screen at the top had changed to black & white. How to change them back? I went through Accessibility but couldn't find a setting for it that was mentioned on other sites. There was nothing under Private Browsing either.

Safari Can't Queue Links Or Open Them In Background
Apr 11, 2010
Has anyone found a workaround for Safari's lack of an "Open in Background" option? I assume Apple left that feature off since the iPad is a little light on RAM (presumably for cost and power consumption considerations), and can't preload too many pages simultaneously.
But a way to queue up links would be useful. As is, if I want to finish browsing a page before going to other linked pages, I need to:
1 Tap-and-hold a link 2 Choose "Open in New Page" 3 Wait a second for the new page to start loading 4 Tap the window manager 5 Tap the original page 6 If the original page has a lot of content, wait for it to reload 7 Repeat steps 1-6 for each link
Step 6 is the most inconvenient: large pages with lots of images take a while to load and almost always need to reload even if only one other window has been opened.
I'm surprised there isn't an "Add to Queue" option in Safari's tap-and-hold context menu (with the "Queued" folder available through the bookmarks button).
Multitasking And Play Music In The Background Using Safari
Apr 7, 2010
Hi folks. New to the forum. This looks like a great place. Not sure if this has been posted before but I thought other iPad owners might like this workaround.
I think most of us are bummed that you cannot run music streaming services like Pandora simultaneously while running another app (ie browsing) due to the inability of 3rd party Apps to multitask.
Apparently Apple's apps (Safari, iTunes, Mail are exempt) so here is the workaround:
1) Go to a site that streams music via their web site (that doesn't use flash but an embedded HTML link). Try www.etn.fm for example. 2) Click on their streaming link and an embedded Quicktime player will start up and after buffeting some data it will start to play. Both mp3 and AAC streams will work. 3) Leave the page open and playing and click on the iPad's Home button to go and select another App 4) Voila. Background streamed music w/o iTunes!!! Not exactly Pandora but there are a lot of great Streaming stations out there
Try these ETN links: http://etn.fm/playlists/etn1-aac-high.m3u http://etn.fm/playlists/etn1beta.m3u
Shoutcast.com has a HUGE catalog of stations of all different types of music.
Once the stream is playing, you can also bookmark the station using the "Add to Home Screen" option for quick launches.
I've tried running a bunch of different Apps and as long as the App isn't pumping out audio too the stream you opened in the background Safari window keeps playing.
IPad 2 :: IOS 7 - App Icons Show Up As Broken Ugly White Grids?
Jun 5, 2014
A few days ago I installed a couple of apps, and when they're installed they didn't have the correct App icons. I figured it was just a quirk, and a reboot would fix it. But it hasn't. I've tried everything short of wiping my device, and I really don't want to wipe my device again since I just restored it a few weeks ago.
Just to be clear, the apps show up and I can use them. The icons they have just look like white grids and its really messing with me...
The two apps I use the most that are affected are DuckDuckGo and Cryptocat. I've tried to delete them and re-install them, while they install the icon looks fine but once its finished installing it turns into that ugly grid again.
What do I need to do to get these App icons to show up as expected again?
Found Continuous Background Audio Playback Using Safari?
Apr 10, 2010
The other day I discovered that playing embedded mp3 audio and podcast, with the help of HTML5, continue to playback even while browsing other applications and web pages. Though primitive in nature, this is surely an oversight on Apples part. To turn the audio off you must either begin to play audio from another source within the iPad or return to the original browser and tap the pause icon. Online music services need to hop on this pony quickly. Multitasking Lives!
Some other tips and easter eggs are in the vid as well.

Saving A Photo On My IPad 2 In Safari That Has A Transparent Background
May 21, 2012
I am saving a photo on my iPad 2 in Safari that has a transparent background. When I go to Photos to check the photo, there is another photo in the background of the thumbnail. When I click on the thumbnail to enlarge it, the background photo disappears. Background photos seem to be randomly picked from others in my photostream...even ones that have been deleted. What is going on?
I've even imported all of my photos into iPhoto and deleted the photos on my iPad. When I save the photo again, same thing. The thumbnail has another photo for a background...
I just tried editing the photo. When I 'enhance' the photo, the background turns white, and the background photo that was there in the thumbnail is now gone... but so is the transparent background...
