Capabilities Of Compared To Laptop
May 4, 2010
For instance, will the ipad be able to watch videos without using the whole screen like the iPod touch does? Also is there a disk drive and will you be able to use a mouse when the ipad is on the keyboard dock? Also, will the ipad be able to play games compatible for pc?

How To Use The 3G Capabilities
Jun 6, 2010
I received a wifi iPad recently as a gift and had decided to exchange it for the 3G version. However, with AT&T dropping the 'unlimited' data plan, i am now thinking twice.I need some insights fro 3G owners as to how you actually need or use the 3G capabilities of your iPads.I initially had no idea what to use the iPad for.i never owned an iPhone nor have an iPod touch (my wife does have one and I seldom play with her device.not that crazy about it), but with the iPad i am very interested in putting it to good use.Around the house there's no problem with connectivity. However, I imagine using it mainly for internet browsing, taking it on long drives and out of town, netflix and youtube streaming, news & weather reading.I am not sure I want to fork over $200 to upgrade to the 3G device and find that I am still not satisfied since AT&T now only has the $15 250MB and the $25 2GB data plans. How much internet browsing / streaming is 2gb worth (say... x hours per day)?

Art Programs - Drawing Capabilities
May 16, 2010
I apologize if there is another thread about this; i only found one last wk and now it appears to be gone.I've been reading the specs and asking around but there is no direct info on wither or not a stylus can be used with the ipad. I discovered a blog entry once about it being compatible if specific programs were installed on the ipad, but nothing concrete.

Capabilities - Voice Data
May 26, 2010
Curious if anyone knows of an application that will allow the iPad user to use the iPad to call landline/mobile numbers? Free of course... but paid apps are welcomed. What about Skype, VoIP...any others?!I know there are apps that will allow you to Text cellphones, free, without having a txt plan, or even a Cellular connection. Text+ I have on my iPod touch and works great. Just looking for an app that will allow voice data over 3G or WiFi to landline/mobile numbers.

IPad 3 24 Bit Audio Capabilities?
Apr 5, 2012
Part of the reason I bought it was it's upcoming music creation capabilities. So here's my question. On most audio interfaces they specify a bit depth and sample rate it's capable of and for all my desktop interfaces I have no issues finding the information. I have been tempted to buy a DAW for my ipad and was looking at the Alesis IODock and the Behringer iStudio (which isn't out quite yet). Both seem to be solid but I have looked everywhere for an answer to what they're recording bit depth and sample rates are. I've even contacted Alesis but they aren't responding to the question. Since I'm working in 24 bit in ableton live 8 on my desktop there's no reason for me to get these items if they can't handle the 24 bit 48 sample. Who knows maybe I'm asking a stupid question but I just can't find the answer. Is the iPad itself a device that is capable of the 24/48 recording and playback quality. That's the only reason I can think of that these stats wouldn't be displayed somewhere. Along with this I'll be picking up Auria app which is a software capable of 24bit/96 sample (as soon as that comes out).

Why Doesn't It Have Flash Capabilities
Apr 8, 2012
Day in and day out, I am becoming more and more disappointed with my recent iPad purchase. Now I found out it doesn't support flash. What's the point of it then? Isn't that why most people get this device?! And, after reading other forums on Apple's site, I see that this is a common complaint from users. What more does Apple want their consumer to do? We're paying double the price of a regular laptop but in return we are missing a key feature. I do hope this is revised soon and we can all update our devices to gain this important feature. I would like to bring my iPad on vacations and such, but as it stands right now I will be taking my PC

What Kinds Of Word Processing Capabilities Are Used?
Jun 22, 2010
My wife is considering selling her laptop PC and replacing it with an iPad. I own an iPhone and a MBP, but I really don't know anything about the iPad and I told her I would ask her questions here. Here are a few and I'll post more if she has them.
What kind of word processing capabilities does the iPad have? Does it have MS Word or will it in the future? What file format does the iPad save these documents in? Is the format compatible with Word?
My wife is a college student and will be using this for school. What are some major differences between a laptop and the iPad. What are the pros and cons to having one versus the other assuming you had to pick between them?.

Does IPad Have Content Creating Capabilities
Dec 1, 2011
I did some exploring on Windows 8 and it does looks like it might be on the right track to being an OK product. However I cant help but wonder if it might be ridiculed like the iPad initially was for lack of content creation. Does anyone know if the Windows 8 tablet portion of the OS will have plenty of content creation? Does anyone feel like the iPad could have more content creating capabilities?

Will iPad2 and the new IOS v.5 finally allow printing to all printers, or will it be still printing only to AirPlay enabled (mostly HP) printers? Meaning 3rd party software still needed to print from iPad (both 1 and 2) to non-AirPlay printers?

Wifi Capabilities - Video And Ancient Headphone
May 8, 2010
I'm well aware that there are probably a ton of threads asking the same question, but I want to ensure that in my particular situation, I will be making the right decision.I'm graduating high school in less than a month. I just received a 17" i5 MBP this weekend from my aunt for graduation. I'm going to Penn State next year, which has plenty of wifi capabilities ( I would be buying the wifi, not the 3g model). I'm in need of a new ipod (my 32g Ipod Video is ancient and the headphone jack only works on one side, and my 8g Touch simply is not enough storage).
Since I need a new Ipod, I am torn between the 32g Ipod touch OR just keeping the two ipods I have and getting an Ipad. 500 dollars is a bit of a stretch but if I was already going to spend 300 on the touch, I figure the 200 won't kill me.
I also have an Amazon Kindle already, but I was looking at the Ipad's reading template and I really like it.

Alerts And Sounds - Features As Snoozing Capabilities
Feb 2, 2010
As the iPhone (unlike the Touch) can play custom tones as alarms, do you think the iPad (with 3.2 firmware) will have the ability to play custom alerts as well? Or you you think it can only play just the built-in sounds alerts. It would also be nice to have such features as snoozing capabilities and even a gradual fade-in option for alarms.

Finding Application Having Capabilities To Scan Worksheets
Nov 20, 2010
I have been trying to unsuccessfully find an app that has the capabilities to scan worksheets. The worksheets are scanned them then a text box can be added so that something can be added: type in the answers, circle the correct letter, etc. Obviously, the scanner will have to be external but I am trying to find if there is an app for this. I know there is software for the computer but this is our determining factor in purchasing the ipad.

Full Stylus/writing Capabilities Of Ipad 2?
Feb 25, 2011
The iPad is great, but so far, it doesn't have the full stylus/writing capabilities that traditional tablets have had (i.e. Toshiba, lenovo, etc.). It sounds like this is mainly because it's capacitive, and the styli are all on the thick end of things.I know that the iPad isn't really meant to have this type of function, etc. That said, I think there are a lot of people out there that would really like to be able to take good notes on the iPad. Penultimate and similar apps are good, but it isn't seamless enough to really do serious work.So does anybody think there is a chance that the next iPad will have more stylus-friendly functions? Maybe one day we'll see a thin-tipped stylus, and an app that truly works like a resistive tablet?

How To Do Perfect Typing As Compared To Mac Pro
May 4, 2010
In the last month though, it's been 99.9% perfect in this regard. In fact, with auto correct, my typing on the iPad has been about on par with typing on my Mac Pro depending on context, messages or urls. (Apple bluetooth keyboard)
