I have the iPad 3G with a strong signal in my area. Is it possible to link my 3G service to my laptop for internet usage?
View 2 RepliesI will be using an in-flight wifi service (Gogo Inflight) today for the first time. It looks like the service costs $9.95 for a laptop and $7.95 for a mobile device. I would like to simultaneously use a laptop, iPad and Blackberry. I know that I can get a network connection to the Blackberry via USB, but can I get an internet connection to my iPad via the USB once connected on my laptop?
View 3 RepliesI have a HP Pavilion with a Windows Vista installation that I am trying to setup as a wifi adhoc internet connection for my iPad.
This is what I do on the laptop:
1. I create an adhoc wifi network
2. Use a WEP password
3. Share the internet connection = enabled (on both my adsl internet connection and the wifi network)
4. Wait for Vista to prompt me to make the "network found", and select a "home" network type.
Here is the iPad setup:
1. I go to settings > WiFi
2. select the wifi network created and enter the password correctly
3. Then I am connected successfully to the network. But I don't have internet access?
I have a data plan on my iPad? Can you tether from an iPad to a laptop for Internet connection?

View 18 RepliesI am with O2 for my iPhone 4 and have an O2 USB dongle/modem which I use to connect my laptop to the internet when out and about. I'm trying to find the most cost effective way of connecting my iPad 2 to the internet when away from home.
I was talking to O2 today about connectivity for my iPad 2 (which has WiFi and 3g but as yet no card), and they told me that there is an accessory which allows me to connect my USB dongle/modem to my iPad 2. This would mean that I don't need an additional data plan, and can use the one I have for the laptop (which is under-used). I couldn't find this accessory/cable on the Apple site, so called them. They tell me they haven't heard of it.
My question is - is there a third party cable that would do this? If so where can I get it from?
We spoke about tethering, but this means I can't use my phone whilst tethered which may be a problem for me.
Other than this - what is the cheapest way of connecting the ipad for occasional use away from home?
I have a Toshiba Laptop, w/ Windows Vista and the only internet available to me is the Sprint USB Broadband, Sierra Wireless, and my question is... Is there a way to turn my laptop into a hotspot so that my iPad can use the Wi-Fi from my sprint USB?
I found an article online that shows how to turn a laptop using windows vista into a hotspot but when my laptop finds the signal it connects to it, but won't have the internet available to it. The only difference in the article and what im doing is that I have the Sprint Internet, not Ethernet.
There is a new app called Handy Light that has a built in easter egg that allows you to setup an Ad-Hoc network with your wifi laptop/computer and share your 3G internet with it.
Here is the link, its $0.99 and apple is sure to pull it from the app store as soon as they get word of it. If this is something you want, snatch it quick before its gone for good.

This app requires iOS 4.0 or higher so it wont work with ipad until iOS 4.0 is out, but if you download it now before apple pulls it from the store you will be able to use it to tether an non jailbroked ipad once iOS 4.0 is released on iPad.
I have a wireless network. After initially connecting ipad to one of my laptops, ipad works fine, but I can no longer get a webpage to display on the laptop. It is connected to the wireless network, but for this laptop only, I can't get to the internet.
My two others work fine. It looks like the router is not getting to my ISP server, but again it is only happening on the laptop I connected the ipad to. I've tried everything I can think of. HELP!

I'm having issues with the wifi on my iPad at home. It hangs for ages before finally loading, or won't load the page at all (get an error message 0 server not responding). I'm thinking the error may lie in my router, as I noticed this happens on my wife's ipod touch and my iphone at times when using the home network. Posting this from my laptop and that connection is working fine.
Is there a chance that somehow my router is having problems recognizing mobile computers (ipod, ipad etc)?

View 1 RepliesI am having trouble connecting my iPad to my company's VPN. I have setup all settings correctly using IPSec (the reason I know this is because when a co worker uses his credentials to login using my iPad it works perfectly when I use my credentials the credentials box keeps on popping up and so doesn't accept these.)When using my laptop to connect using cisco VPN client I can connect fine.Does it possibly have to do with the my user profile settings/access on the company's active directory?
