Can I Charge Battery Each Night?
Sep 10, 2010Just got an iPad Monday. Should I let the battery run down before charging in or can I top it off each night? Which way will make it last longer and hold its charge longer down the road?

View 11 RepliesAfter a first workday of average use, I've still got 75% battery life left in my 3G/64GB/$829. Haven't used the 3G yet as I've been on good wi-fi both at home and in the office.Should I go another day or two and get the charge down to 30% or should I top it off tonight, taking it back up to 100%? Don't want to hurt the battery or compromise my experience.
View 24 RepliesI used my iPad normally yesterday night, battery almost full, and this morning the iPad is totally dead, I thought maybe the battery was empty so I plugged it in, no sound to be heard and it is just plain dead !! I cannot re-start it and nothing happens when I touch any of the control buttons. I can't bring it to the Apple store as there is no apple store in the country I live and I have bought my iPad in the USA.

Last night I charged my battery to 100%, then took it off the cord and set it aside. 12 hours later, I unlocked the iPad to find the battery had drained to 85%. Push and Fetch have been turned off, so have location services and the iPad is not jail broken. I hope you all can tell if such a drop of charge is at all normal. And if not, can the Apple Store tell if my battery is defective? It's a wifi only model by the way.
Why does my battery drain about 20% over night when i'm not using it? My iPhone 4 does not do that.
View 2 RepliesI've had my iPad for a few weeks now and have had no battery issues whatsoever. In fact, my battery has performed way above my expectations. I have made a conscious effort to never leave it charging all night.
is it harmful for battery?
My iPad Drains From 94% to 12% overnight in sleep mode.
View 17 RepliesThe new iPad is great and battery life seems very good, pretty much the same as when my original iPad was new. However, even after putting it to sleep, and charging it via the AC power adapter supplied with the iPad, when I unplug it in the morning, the battery indicator goes from 100% to 99% immediately! This never happened even after my original iPad was nearly 2 years old. Now I understand the larger battery uses more juice, and that the indicator might not be accurate while charging, but you'd think that 8 hours or more of a charge would result in it at least reading 100% upon the initial unplugging.I think this is some sort of bug, as this is the 2nd iPad that is doing this. Reading the articles, etc., it is unclear if Apple has changed something about how the battery indicator reads (e.g., only reading 100% while connected to a charger), but I'm inclined to wonder if this is something a software update could fix.

I have Ipad AIR (wi-fi only). Restore on clear ios 7.1.2.
Set airplan mode. Turn off: push in mail, backgroud, geo, updates, siri, all etc.
Anyway battery discharged 15-16% over night.
Is it normal? What reason ?

I know the batter trickle charges, so you shouldn't be able to ovecharge and cause damage to the battery. However, I was just reading an article and number 5 states "Do not overcharge iPad. Overcharging iPad by leaving it charging for the whole night shortens the battery lifespan". Is this true? I charge my iPad overnight every nigh as I use it a lot duing the day and I am now worrying about reducing the battery lifespan.

Will battery performance on the iPad degrade if I keep it connected to the power adapter for 6 - 7 hours every day?

Quick question, just got my iPad and I wondered if I need to give it the old 24 hour first charge? Any advice?
View 1 RepliesAnybody know if it matters or harms in anyway the iPad battery leaving it on charge? Maybe if your going to sleep or out for awhile and it only needs a short charge time, but it is hooked up much longer than it actually needs to be.

I just got my ipad yesterday...how long do I need to charge the battery before I can use it. And I read that the battery should be completely run down once a month and recharged. I don't think I'll be using it enough to do that. What is the fastest way to run it down so that I can recharge.

I have this app gravity clock that I use as my alarm since someone at apple had the great idea of leaving the clock.app out. So normally I set the alarm and turn off the screen, but I am really loving the clock itself. So I wanna put in the charger cable, open the app and have the gravity clock showing all night long, every single night. Will this drastically mess up the ipad's battery, or should I be fine having it on during night 365 days a year (well, that's only for one year since I'm buying the new iPad next summer hehe).
View 24 RepliesI have just bought my brand new iPad and as I was leaving the PC World store the tech guy told me that I should charge the unit for TEN HOURS before even turning it on.
I know this used to be common practice with batteries in years gone by but in this age of non-memory Lithium Ion batteries is it really necessary to do that?Did you all charge yours up for that period of time before getting stuck into it?

For proper reporting of the batterys state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down). How long to let the ipad sit without charging, then charge it up again? Hours?
I put the ipad on the wall adapter charger today and it only went up to 18% from dead and I didn't use it at all while it was charging. It was put on the charger around *:30 and taken off around 5:30

This is a FYI of my personal problem.I have an Ipad, a morning decided to charge it with a "OEM" china 6 ft cable and wont reach the charge after 8%,
I went crazy.... start to troubleshoot and found out that thre china 6ft cable, maybe don't have the same pins, same cable specifications causing a weak current, I tried with a original cable short version and wala! is getting warm and charging as normal.
