Battery Losing Charge Quickly?

Jul 8, 2010

Anyone had any issues with the iPad battery losing charge quickly? For instance, my iPad lost 12% of its charge (from 100% down to 88%) over a period of 10 hours with the device turned off. I made certain that all wifi and 3G network connections were switched off when I turned the iPad off.

I read a thread here suggesting that GoodReader may be a culprit (for some reason) and have since removed that app. Still waiting for a decent time to elapse before checking battery capacity again to see if that has made any difference.

Did not have this problem when the iPad was 'new', ie a couple of weeks old.

IPad :: Battery Overheats / It Will Not Charge / Drains Really Quickly

Jul 2, 2014

I was wondering why my iPad has been causing problem?.  I do not to insurance for the item though I still have to pay for the product through the financing company.  Surely, with or without insurance, this is a hardware problem.  I have had the item for a little under two years and do not believe this is the end of a cycle for an Apple product.

Battery Losing Charge While Plugged In AND In Use

Nov 26, 2010

I got my ipad opening day. By the end of the day, I noticed that even though I had the ipad plugged into the supplied charger with supplied cable, the battery was slowing draining at a rate of approximately 5% every hour. So I called apple care and they decided to send me a new replacement. However, the behavior is the same with this iPad. We own two of them, so I did try the power adapter and cable from the second ipad and again, the behavior is the same. I would like to see if anyone else notices this with their iPad if they could at least give it a try:1) Fire up bluetooth and WiFi, plug in the supplied cable and charger.2) Crank up the brightness.3) Run an app that is demanding on the device. I love drum apps and will drum along with my macpro playing iTunes on the MacPro and listening to the iPad via GarageBand so that it plays on the nice set of speakers.

WiFi Doesn't Charge Quickly While Connected To USB To My MAC?

Oct 30, 2010

I'm aware that the iPad doesn't charge quickly while connected by USB to my Mac. I've been using the supplied wall adaptor to charge it and it seems to take a really long time to charge compared to other Apple products. I had a 50% battery life remaining this morning and plugged it in to charge. Four hours later, it's up to 90%. That implies it would take about 10 hours to recharge the iPad from a dead battery. Does this sound right?

Battery Seems To Lose Power Quickly

May 20, 2010

Must be my imagination but my battery seems to be dying quicker than usual. I have been Atomic Browser a lot lately and I heard that may be an issue. I has my iPad plugged into the charger all night. Woke up and unplugged had 100%. Now after about aprox 10 minutes of use it has dropped down to 97%. When i first got it it would take at least an hour before it would drop down to 99%. I'm probably worrying about nothing. If I'm being stupid just say so.

Battery Drains Quickly After 10 Percent Left?

May 16, 2011

I have an ipad1 the battery works great until it reaches with 10 percent battery left. And it comes up with a warning with 10 percent battery left and should charge. The problem is it drops quickly and it doesn't charge. I usually have to reconnect it to my CPU and when the screen comes back up plug it into the wall charger and then it is a slow process back to 100 percent. I have tried changing the cable wall charger plug.

IPad Battery Draining Quickly With Lock / Unlock Feature

Jul 20, 2011

My iPad battery is draining more quickly than normal when being woken from sleep by opening a case that works with the cover lock/unlock feature, It does not require me to slide to unlock. This happens whether I lock it by clicking the sleep button at the top of the iPad and then close the cover (there is the audio "click" that indicates it has slept). It does not happen if I wake it by using the buttons of the iPad. I'm unable to restore the iPad.

Losing Battery While On Standby?

Jul 2, 2010

I've had my iPad for just over a month now, and so far it's been great. Over the past couple of days, I've noticed that my iPad is losing battery while I leave it in standby on my desk. While I sleep, the iPad loses between 4-7% of the battery. It can't be anyone else in the house because I've got a password lock on it and no one would really be interested anyway. As far as I can tell, there's no major problem while I'm using the iPad, but I'm going to try a video test this weekend. Does this happen to anyone else? Any tips on what I do? Oh and I keep the iPad connected to wifi, and it receives push notifications every now and then.

Feb 18, 2012

I have had my iPad 2 wifi 32GB since last August and it has always had a good battery life and I ran the full cycles of battery the first few times. (fully charge, fully deplete, repeat). I always manually close any unused apps, keep Bluetooth off and typically use my iPad for forum browsing and Internet browsing. In the past week or so my battery life has gone to crap. I am losing 1% of battery life every couple of minutes. I have auto lock set to two minutes and have only a few apps set for the notifications bar.

How To Charge Battery For Best Battery Life

So I am doing FULL charges, not PARTIAL charges. Also, when large battery pic says 100% charged, top right small battery pic says 98% instead of 100, twice now. Information:Ipad 3G & 13.3 MacPro

Better To Charge More Often Or Let Battery Get Really Low?

Sep 9, 2011

I was wondering, since the battery life is based on charge cycles, if it is better to charge your iPad daily or to wait until the battery is pretty drained (>20%) before you plug it in? I told my mom, who has an iPhone, that it's probably better to drain it bc the battery is based on charge cycles, but my brother who is probably more tech savvy than me told her she should charge it at the end of the day regardless of her battery level. I obviously want my iPad to last me as long as possible so I'm wondering if it makes a difference which approach you take to charging, and which is the better option.

Battery Limit/when Should Charge?

Jun 19, 2010

This certainly seems like a stoopid question, but the more I try to figure this out the more I don't get it. I've read the posts on this forum, read Apple's battery info and I'm more confused for all this info.

Apple recommends 1x a month running the iPad's battery down to 0, till it shuts off and then recharge back to 100%. This helps the battery maintain its full charging capacity for longer.

In the past with an electronic device like my phone or camera or laptop, whether I use em some, a lot, a little-during the day, once home I charge them up for the next day. Regardless of whether they need charging or not, I will "top them off" to start at 100% charged in the morning.

But with an iPad should we keep running the battery down until it gets to 20%, 10%, 5% before recharging it. OR?! is it okay to plug it in in the evening b4 bed, even if its at 75%, or 63% and "top it off" for the next day?
