So my iPad keeps making an alert sound. No notification comes up. Just the sound. Randomly.

Alarms working under 4.3. Mine certainly don't. Not a single morning alarm has gone off since I updated it last week. With Night Stand HD, the alarm symbol flashes, and still has to be turned off for the app to allow any other action, but that's it - no alarm sound, and no graphic alert in the form of Turn Off /Snooze buttons, like it used to. With Nightstand Central Free, if I run a test alarm a couple of minutes from now, it will go off. But every morning, it has completely failed.

I just bought an iPad 2 and I immediately started installing apps. I installed IM+ to connect to my MSN messenger account and everything worked perfectly but one thing that I didn't like was that I had to open the app to see if I had new messages. So then I installed imo.im and it was the same thing. I started to think the OS didn't allow the apps to tell me if there are new msgs but I knew the Mail app puts the number of msgs on top of the icon.
Then I realized what I missed was a feature of the OS called notifications. I remember both apps asked if I wanted to allow notifications and I answered yes to both. I also checked under settings -> notifications and the feature was on, also both apps appear on the list below and they have "Badges, Alerts and Sounds" selected so this seems to be configured. I had no notification come up, either in the form of popups, bagdes, sounds or whatever, for any app.

Mail - Email Alert Home Screen
I just got my ipad a few days ago. I have one problem so far. I thought that when an email was received, it would show it on top of the mail icon on the home screen just after it came. I don't find new email until I actually open mail. When I then exit mail it shows I have new mail on the home screen.
