I apologize for asking what has probably been asked and answered several dozen times already. But, I'm a newbie and never owned an Apple product before until I received a new Ipad as a gift. It is not 3G so when not near a WiFi hot spot, I have no service. I called Apple and was advised that there's no way to upgrade my Ipad to a 3g model in order to have access to AT & T service. So, is there anything I can do to make my Ipad in order to hook into a cellular phone service broadband connection? I have a small USB device from Verizon for my PC that allows me to hook up to the internet where there's Verizon service. But, since the Ipad has no USB port, obviously I can't use it. Do I have any options. The MiFi device that Verizon sells appears to require a USB port which, once again, won't work. Do I have any options or am I forever tied to use my Ipad only when in range of a WiFi hot spot? Thanks for your patience in responding to this.
I am fine at home. It asks for my password and i was fine. Till I went to the airport. Now I am trying to use the ipad on a free wifi hotspot. It connects, but won't do anything. I launched my mac to post this.Basically, I think the issue is the hotspot forcing you to enter things from the web page ie. flight number, name etc. I never get this option because safari won't connect. How do you get to wifi hot spots when this happens? Information : macbook aluminum, 2.4, 4 gig, 320, imac dual core, 1.8 Mac OS X (10.5.6) sony HDC-HC3, appleTV, ipods, hard drives, WDMP.
I got a new original iPad Thursday from my local Verizon store. I love it, but yesterday I was putting on a Yoobao slim case and noticed that if I press on the glass near the top right side, inside the black border, it flexes and squeaks. This spot on the screen has a bit of backlight bleed (not terrible, but still there) if that has anything to do with it.
The glass apparently touches the screen underneath as the "rainbow" type effect happens -the same effect seen when you touch an LCD. The pressure required to replicate this isn't extreme either, just a medium firm press. Should I be concerned? I'd hate for this to turn into an issue down the road.
So now that I have an iPad (64/3G), and travel a lot... I have a question:
I want to go on the road armed only with said iPad sans macbook. If I'm at a hotel with only an ethernet cable, and don't want to use my 3G (as in international), can I just bring an AirPort Express and hook it to the cable to create a wifi network?
I have a wifi only version of the ipad and have been having very reliable wifi service ever since i got this second one (first one was returned). Only issue I have had is an occasional blinking wifi indicator that would blink off then back on every couple of minutes or so but then didnt last to long but now comes along this update which I do yesterday and today now the ipad says "connecting" but dont connect to the internet. The wifi icon is completly gone now and when I go to setting-network to look for my router-network its no where to be found actually it finds no networks in range in which it used to find a few from around my neighborhood. In the settings menu wifi is turned "on" and "ask to join networks" is also on. Now before you get discouraged about updating if u havent done so I was able to get my wifi back by pressing and holding the small power button on the side powering it off and then restarting it and bam there it was wifi icon at full bars again and getting 12.2 mbps down and 2.90 up! Point is I never had to do that before and just did that restart as I am typing this thread so I hope that I don't have to do this repeatedly. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know, I allways advocate doing any and all updates provided by a manufacture but the update is supposed to alleviate problems not create them.
I have been trying to connect to the internet via wifi at work to no avail. My Iphone on wifi works fine there. I entered the identical info from my wifi settings in the iphone to my wifi settings in the Ipad.. I show a strong signal but when the page starts to load I get ""Problem Communicating with web proxy server http." Can anyone offer me any help?
I am using wifi with my iPad through an airport extreme to a speaker which works fine except when I have wifi on I can't connect to the Internet using the inbuilt sim card. I have to turn wifi off to use my sim card. Is there any way around this?
I have an iPad 2 and want to hook this up to my LCD tv. I have a wired adapter which plugs into ipad2 and has three RCA cables and a USB plug on the other end! I plug the three RCA cables into the tv any my iPad and get a message on the iPad that the accessory is not supported.
I have found my wi fi signal, i have put my password word in and it was all set up but now the last few days I can't use it, the loading sign comes up then after 5mins it will say unable to connect, is the a problem with my I pad.
I was wondering if there was any way to use my evo to get Internet on my iPad.I have pdanet on my evo that I am using to get wifi on my computer. I was wondering if there is away to do this with my iPad?
I was wondering 2 things:1.) do those of you with 3g notice your using it and cant live without it?2.) do the plans stay until they are used, or is it 30 days, use it or lose it style.I plan to be very mobile with my ipad...as it can do everything i need it for to replace my laptop. I'm just not sure about needing the internet everyplace I go...
I am again and again getting this problem. Sometimes I connect successfully and get Internet connection on my home wifi but sometime I connect but could not get Internet working while I still can use wifi on other device. I am using ipad3.
I am trying to connect a new IPad 2. I have a Belkin router that is B+G+N. I use WPA2 encryption and MAC filtering. The IPAD's MAC address was entered into the router and when I provide the encryption key as the password I am able to connect to WiFi but not anything Internet related except for email. When I type any URL in Safari it takes me to my router's management page. In fact I can log into my router and manage it from my IPad but I can't connect to anything else. I have 8 other computers/devices that connect to the router fine including two Apple Ipod touch's.
I am having MAJOR problems with my Ipad, more specifically its connectivity. The apple support line has been of no use whatsoever so I'm counting on you guys to help me out if anyone has had similar problems?
If I can explain the issues maybe you guys can help....
I currently use my 32gb wifi only Ipad by connecting to an ad-hoc network set up on my laptop. I dont have a router as such, just a 3g dongle (which plugs into my usb port) and a wireless card inside my pc. I select 'setup a new ad-hoc network' in the network and sharing centre and then when I turn on Wifi on my Ipad it finds the network and connects with full strength. However when I open safari or anything requiring online content it tells me it is not connected to the internet.
I had this issue when I first got the Ipad, now the support staff at apple told me that 'it wasnt possible' in any case... However I tried a couple more times then it did connect to my wireless network and suddenly would connect to the internet.... I didnt do anything different, it just suddenly worked.
Today for an unexplained reason it has just stopped working. When I access the settings associated with the 'connected' network, the IP address begins 169, which I understand means something is wrong... however I feel a bit stuck because most people connect via a fixed home broadband hub or such and most things i can find refer to those with proper broadband, whereas my wireless signal is coming from the laptop itself (I asssure you it has worked for the past week though).
This is really stressing me out now as it did work, and I dont know what I did. I'm not especially computer/network literate could anyone who has any ideas talk me through it step by step? Just to summarise, Im running windows Vista, creating an ad-hoc network, and connecting via that. The signal is full but the IP starts 169. and subsequently doesnt work. It began to work last week, but I didnt change anything.
I just purchased the Ipad with wifi. As I am going thru setting it up for the first time it takes me to the page to select a wifi network. I select the one I have from COX. However this is the lock icon. When I select it I do not have the option to enter a password. How do I resolve this issue?
I have a 4G 64gb iPad which is losing Internet connection when connected to my home wifi network via airport extreme.I can usually regain Internet by either resetting network settings, forgetting the wifi network or rebooting the airport extreme. Whenever I experience this issue, my iPhone and other devices still connect fine. I did manage to get it working by removing all security from the wifi network but that is not a feasible solution long-term.
