I have just bought a 64GB iPad and I am wondering what's the significance of an icon that looks like an open book or a page that is visible when you watch YouTube videos in full screen. It's to the left of the "play" button. It used to look clear, and out of curiosity I clicked it. I didn't notice any changes whatsoever except that the icon/symbol is now greyed out and nothing happens when I click on it again.

I have encoded a few videos for the iPad but when I play them, double tapping the screen does not re-size the picture. They always play in letterbox mode and not full screen.Any idea why?

Unable To Connect To The Internet - Wireless Icon With Full Signals
Jun 10, 2010
I just got my Ipad and mine will not connect to the internet. My Iphone works fine on the network along with my other computers so I am confused. The wireless icon shows I have good signal strength. After reading some of the discussions here, I tried to manually load the settings information and connect to the network. I set the IP address to static and entered in all my current network information but I am still not able to connect to the internet.
In the video on Apple's site, they show the example of mirroring your screen to an HDTV through the new HDMI dongle.
The only problem is, it is not in full screen at all. It seems to be only taking up half the screen at best.
I realize there is a difference in screen resolutions that may be causing this, but do you think there will be an option on the device to output at fullscreen? As in, not having to switch a display option on my tv?
I added a website to the home screen to watch it as fullscreen. Works fine... until you click a link. Then the target opens in a new tab of Safari and the fullscreen is gone Does someone know how to keep the fullscreen? (so I don't see the address bar of safari)
I have an iphone 4, ipad, and a macbook pro. I can't find any way to airplay from any of them to the other. I don't get the airplay icon at all when I play a video on my ipad or iphone, on my computer the only airplay option from the icon is "computer".Running 4.2.1 and latest itunes/snow leopard
http://www.apple.com/ipad/gallery/If you go to the third page of the gallery and click "Contacts" you'll notice that the contacts app doesn't cover the entire screen in portrait, there's a big black area up the top.I'm guessing this means the contacts app won't cover the entire screen, or perhaps it's just a mistake?
The iPad is great, but the idea of zooming in by 2x's, is just dumb! I mean, of course applications are going to look more pixalated, but some can look alright. Depending on the application... I just think that Apple should have added a Full Screen View, as well as an option for the 2x's zoom. Or any dimensions...To me, it sounds like it's a marketing scheme, for developers to make iPhone applications, and a separated iPad application. This is not a funny way to get easy money... I think that Developers are now offering more Universal Applications than ever before, so this whole 2x's Zoom Feature idea needs to stop! We bought the iPad, simply because of it's nice 9.7" Display, and should have the option to view our applications at Any Dimention! (FULL SCREEN!
Best I can tell from what I've read, there's no accessory I can use to hook my iPad to an HDTV via HDMI, DVI, or RGB analog, and still mirror the iPad's screen at full iPad resolution.
I was using Youtube through Safari.I clicked a video and made it full screen and then the screen turned black. It didn't show me the usual appearance of a video in Youtube.Although the games and the apps still work.I tried closing it first then opening it again.
when i went back it still shows a black screen with the word Ipad and the time. Does anybody have ideas on how to put it back to its normal self?
create folders/subfolders in landscape mode, hide the message list (as you can in portrait) so you can get full screen. Why the message list isn't a floating pane as in portrait mode I dont know - big mistake IMO.I hope they open the door for 3rd party mail applications. There is SO much room for improvement. At least I've got my girlfriend off of webmail now. And off my Macbook. Now she's just go to keep me off of my I mean her iPad.
I'm having an issue relating to the sync process. I sync to my laptop. At home when I sync my iPad everthing is great. I get the iPad sync interface where I can drag items around (up to 6 icons on the iPad Taskbar), but when I bring the same laptop to my office and connect my iPad I seem to get a different, older version of this application interface. It's the interface I'm use to seeing when I connect my Touch (up to 4 icons on the iPad Taskbar). And all my iPad (full screen applications are not shown in the drag 'n drop applications interface. I checked the Device mounted and it shows that it knows it's my iPad. I'm very confused.

In an handful of apps (dropbox, email client, pdf reader), I can't seem to find a way to use the full screen with the open document in landscape mode - the file browser/inbox/whatever is also taking up 1/3 of the screen. Only in portrait mode does it disappear. Is there a way to do this in landscape mode?
How To Get The EBooks From Nook To Use The Full Screen
Oct 31, 2010
Has anyone figured out how to get the eBooks from Nook to use the full screen on the iPad? Currently, the books are downloading, but it is using less than 1/4 of the screen at a normal size font. Is there any way to change this or am I just stuck with the lousy use of the iPad screen?
I upgraded from the original iPad on Friday and was excited to try Airplay Mirroring with my AppleTV 2 since the original iPad couldn't do this. I'm a little confused why it doesn't take up the full screen on my TV and has black bars on the left and right.
I looked online and could only find an explanation for the iPad 2. Being that the resolution on the New iPad is better than a 1080P TV, it doesn't make a lot of since why I am seeing these black bars.
