I am looking to buy a 16GB Wifi iPad from a buyer and they are reluctant to sell me the device due to an issue she is having. Here is what she said:
"When I go to play my videos it plays for a little bit but lags really bad and then just shuts off."
She means the whole iPad shuts off, and the video she is referring to is those she uploads to the device, not necessarily streaming/Youtube.

Once or twice a week I download a TV show from iTunes to watch on the train. (Usually Deadliest Catch) I start the download right when I get up in the morning so it's done when I leave for work.This morning I downloaded an episode and was watching it on the train--halfway through the episode, it froze. I hit pause and play, no response. I tried fast forwarding to another part of the video--black screen.When I closed to the home screen and went back in, there was still the black screen--couldn't even get back out to the video selection screen. Same result when I close the app in multi tasking and open it again. I also held down Home+Power until it reset itself and went back into the video again. This time I get the selection screen again, but then when I hit play I get a black screen again. I can't even go back to the beginning of the video to start it over.Anyone ever had this problem? I know the Apple Store went down early this morning, but I didn't hear anything about iTunes going down. The news stories reporting the down time are all from around the time I was downloading the video--I'm starting to wonder if I just didn't get the whole file. Anyway, the video is now completely unplayable.
UPDATE: I tried something else as well--I just did a normal power down. Now when I launch the video app, I get a black screen and that's it. It's completely non functional.
Have anyone noticed that when playing back vids via the YouTube site that they look blurred even when you "downsize" the screen size? On my netbook the videos are sharper and it has a 10 inch screen.Is it due to using 3G over "hardline" internet?Any adjustments on the Pad or app I can get to improve the videos?

First of all I don�t have an iPad yet so I�m curious to know about the video playback. I�ve read other threads and articles stating that all video played on the iPad has black bars on the top and sides of the video. However on Apple�s site they show a movie being played in widescreen and by double tapping the screen will change the video to full screen. I�m mainly curious about videos in 1024x576 or 720p. The last couple of days I�ve ripped some Blu-Rays and converted them in Handbrake under the Apple TV settings. If Apple claims that you can watch a video in 1024x576 at full screen then that�s obviously the case right? Any info would be great.
On another note for people out there that rip Blu-Rays through Handbrake what settings do you use? I use the Apple TV setting and I change the size to 1024 with keep aspect ratio checked and have anamorphic to none. For bitrate I kept it on constant quality 60%. I�m not really too worried about the audio since the iPad�s speakers are small so I just output the audio to aac stereo. Anything else I�m missing? I really just go by the Apple TV settings and change a couple of things mentioned above.
I have a lot of iTunesU video's and have been playing them back just fine in iTunes on my Mac BUT when playing them on my iPad, the video freezes (audio continues) and the player no longer responds.

I'm finding it's hit and miss to get the scrubber bar to display when in video playback mode.
1) I touch the screen in various places and have no luck most times.
2) I will sometime tap quickly and still no luck most times.
After several attempts using 1 and/or 2 the scrubber bars appears. This delay unfortunately causes undue frustration as, for example, to pause quickly cannot usually be performed.
Is there a subtle trick in getting the scrubber bar to appear. I have no such problem when in video playback on my iPhone 3G.

Just got a new Ipad and I copied some of my DVDs to it for viewing. I am enjoying everything but there seems to be a bit of a lag when I play the video. It happens consistently during the videos and is consistent on the other videos I have copied to the iPad as well. If I stream a video from YouTube or something like that it is perfect.

this has happened to me once before not sure how to fix but when i click on the video icon i just get a black screen and it doesnt show my videos or give me the option to playback anything. i restarted the ipad2 but that didnt work and i also closed down all programs that were running in the background to no avail. How do i get videos to play again?

View 8 RepliesI'm very happy with my iPad2 except for video playback on You Tube and iPlayer. Some videos will play in full, lsome stutter badly - particularly on iPlayer - and I wondered if anyone else had the same experience and found a way to cure it. Embedded Facebook videos sometimes play without a hitch but not often.
I use BT Business Broadband and that works just fine for playback on my MacBook and my work laptop ( a Dell).
My iPad consistently locks up during video playback across multiple applications.

I'm going to try a restore, but thought I'd post here in case anyone had any ideas (if it's likely a hardware issue, I'd like to take it back and swap it)...1. iPad CrashWhile using an app, the screen went black and then showed the Apple logo as it booted. When I synced with iTunes, the crash logs included a "Panics" folder with some files in it. Nothing much in there that I can interpret, except "Debugger message: Fatal Exception". Sometimes when playing video (via the video app, downloaded via iTunes) it will randomly pause without anything touching the screen. This is local media, it is not being streamed.
Of late i have been facing issues while playing back online videos like youtube videos, and videos from various other sites on my IPAD2. The problem is that most of the video stutters a lot while playing back while the audio plays fine.This problem occurs only while playing back videos on safari or chrome ( I haven't tried any other browser). If I play the same youtube video on YouTube app, then it plays perfectly fine. I am fine with using youtube app but I am facing issues while trying to playback videos from other websites since not all the websites have an app for iPad.
I have a very fast internet connection so internet speed is definitely not an issue. ALso please note that I have been using my iPad since past 2 years and I never had any issue while playing back videos from any websites either using safari or chrome using the same internet connection.

I came across a blog How to Watch AVI Video and more on the iPad which reviews different video playback methods for watching media on iPad and had to share it with you.I have tried out the cinex app and it is fantastic. View 2 RepliesI love the way scrubbing is handled on the native video app. Its so intuitive and simple to use. Unfortunately, I never use the native video app because all my videos are in avi format. I use Buzzplayer to play all my videos, and it works fine, except the "halfspeed" and "fine" scrubbing feature isnt there. Is there any way I can add it? Any avi-playing apps that have it?

When I transfer them onto my iPad2 they are upscaled to full screen and look awful and distorted. Is there any way I can watch them at their original resolution on the Ipad2 even though there would be a black border around the video?
I'm having trouble with youtube videos on my iPad 2 i keep getting a message on some videos that says video is not available with a black screen while others play just fine. Is there certain videos the iPad 2 can play and not play?
View 1 RepliesWatching videos on my iPad 3rd gen the brightness of the screen keeps changing. As in if something bright suddenly comes on the screen the screen darkens a bit to compensate for the overexposure. On most videos where scenes have a constant lighting source you don't notice it, but if the camera tends to move around or things are popping up in the video it's very noticable.
For instance watching the video podcast for Mad Money on my iPad when ever a chart comes on the screen darkens. As the camera zooms in or out on Jim Cramer the brightness of the screen changes. The brightness changes so quickly it's quite disconcerting. But watching the average TV show it's not that noticeable unless you are looking for it. My iPad One with 5.1 doesn't do this, nor do the same videos on my iMac. Just on my iPad 3.
