Connect An External Hard Drive To It?

Sep 4, 2011

But I thought I would post it anyway. Is there any possible way to connect an external hard drive to the ipad, play movies (mp4, I currently use VLC for them) on the ipad, and then connect the ipad to the TV? Basically the end result would be watching movies on my TV via the ipad. I know this is probably too big of a stretch, but I figured that I'd ask anyway.

Wi-Fi External Hard Drive

Jun 19, 2010

I have an external hard drive attached to my Airport Extreme. The benefit of this set-up is having access to my media without it bogging down my Macbook's hard drive because I can access the external hard drive as though it is native to my Macbook.I was wondering if an iPad would access the external wireless hard drive and the media stored on it the same way my Macbook does.

Use Of External Hard Drive Or USB?

Jun 24, 2012

I would like to store files such as music items, apps and especially videos that were bought from apple (tv shows, movies e.t.c.), then put it on to a USB stick or external hard drive and then be able to connect it to my iPad via the USB adaptor so that I can delete and add apps, music and movies from iPad and be able to put it back on, without connecting it to my computer or needing to have Internet acces to download it from the store (when I am over seas, because I do not have a laptop, I operate from a desktop). Is it possible and do I need to have a special app for this task if it is?

Info:
iPad 2, iOS 5.1, I want to use a USB stick or EHD

Mac's Hard Drive Failed

Feb 25, 2011

So, my Mac's hard drive failed about a month ago.

I'm working on recovering the data (OS X is horrible about failing drives; plugging the drive in to any Mac will immediately cause Snow Leopard's finder to beach ball and lock up completely, and Disk Utility will crash if I attempt to unmount the drive; Windows and HFS Explorer is able to copy data off, and I'm attempting to clone the first 500 GB partition, but twelve hours only pulled off about 13%, and I don't know how long the drive'll last (and my iTunes isn't even on that partition).

As it is right now, I'd like to sync my iPad off of the Windows 7 PC I've got running. Obviously, I don't have any media in the iTunes library. I don't want to sync it to this computer because I'm afraid of losing the data that's on it.

I actually don't care about any of the media on the iPad; I stream everything through Air Video/Pandora/similar apps, so there is very little music and no videos at all on the device. Similarly, I don't care in the slightest about my contacts; it's all on MobileMe.

All I want to back up is my app data. I may sell it and would like to be able to restore it if I get an iPad 2. How can I go about doing this?
