View 1 RepliesI have an iPad Air (purchased in October 2013) and during the 7.1.2 update, the download froze for about an hour. (***or installation, see last line.) I believe the wi-fi source it was downloading from just shut down (it does that sometimes) but I'm actually not sure what caused the frozen screen.
After waiting about an hour, I tried to turn the iPad off - failed, it wouldn't turn off. So I rebooted it. Now it thinks it has 7.1.2 but I don't believe it does, since it was only halfway through loading the update when the screen/iPad froze.
So I turned it off. It still says it has the latest software update. So far, no obvious glitches in how its working, but maybe whatever bugs or glitches this could cause won't show up until later. Sigh.
Is there any way to undo its perception of having the 7.1.2 update and then reload that update? Actually I'm not entirely certain if it frozen halfway through downloading the update OR installing the update. I walked away for a moment. The picture was: A black screen, a white apple logo and a solid line stuck about halfway through doing what it should do (midway under the apple.)
In my App Store application there is an App Upgrade for iBooks 1.1.1 7/19/2010. Whenever I try to update it (It's a free update from apple). The application asks me to input a password but the email/account name is an old one so my password doesn't match.
Does anyone know how to update the email address the application is trying to use? I've checked most of my settings and they all use my new Apple account id.It keeps telling me the ID has been suspended for security reasons. So basically, I can't update my iPad.Where else could it be pulling the old account name/email address from?

Hopefully not a dumb qustion, but I just got a new iPad this past weekend. I'm seeing a lot of different ways people are updating to 4.2. Can I just do the normal update process or is it cleaner to do a fresh install? (and lose the couple of bookmarks, game scores, etc from only a couple of days of use)

View 2 RepliesI am looking forward to the new system update but i just wondered, and excuse total ignorance, how does one know when it is available? I have app updates posted on the app store icon on the ipad home page and i have noticed that some are for system 4, so when is the update out?
View 3 RepliesMy iPad is working wonderfully. Hooks up to wi-fi, all apps run well.
Reading all the stories of iPad's that have been updated "bricking," wi fi problems occuring, deleted apps has me nervous about updating. I live far from a Mac store (3hours) and won't be able to access a genius should shit happen.
Am I worrying for nada or good reasons?
To update or not to update? That's my question.
I updated my ipad with the first GM release. When I try to update to the official update itunes says I am up to date. How can I force an update or should I back up, do a restore then restore the backup to get my data back?
View 2 RepliesI have a 32GB verizon ipad 3. I received a carrier settings update pop-up message which says "New setting are available. Would you like to update them now?" With 2 options; Not Now or Update. I have clicked on both options several times and nothing happens. My ipad 3 is locked! I can't do anything! I can't even turn the ipad off!
