I have several outdated email messages that I want to erase. However, when I try to put them into the trash a dialogue appears that says I cannot put anything into the trash. What causes this, and what can I do?

IPad 3 :: Deleting Email - Unable To Move To Trash Message Appear
Sep 12, 2014
Very recently when I have tried to delete an email in the native email app, a message appears telling me that it has been unable to move the message to trash. This happens if I 'Edit' then delete the messages or even when I try to delete one message directly.
It has got to the point where I have to force the app to close after which all returns to normal as I would expect. By the way the more I use my iPad, the more I love it. So much so that I have come to dislike intensely my laptop running on Windows 8.1. Enough said there!
When I get emails to my AOL account on my iPad, they show up in my trash folder, not in my inbox. Any suggestions as to why this might happen, and how it can be fixed?
Many, it seems, want to have one message download on their computer and their other device, in my case an Ipad. I would like to "take care" of the message in one place (respond, trash, save, etc.) and then not have to see it in the other place. I'm now using gmail but can't figure out how to make this happen using Mail on my mac and the general mail settings on my Ipad.
I have around 1300 messages in my gmail apps inbox that i want downloaded. I have set up this account to use pop and told gmail to enable pop for all messages, even those already downloaded. The iPad now will download chunks at a time and then suddenly stop and i can't download anything more recent than june. So far it has about 400 of the 1300 available.
In mail, when I put my messages into "edit" mode to start to delete, some messages can be deleted while others only have an 'archive' option. Is this something that can be dealt with in settings?
Won't Work With Gmail / Delete Messages From Inbox Go To Trash Rather Than Archive
Jun 3, 2010
Set up gmail imap account and started to notice that deleted messages from the inbox move to trash rather than archive. Furthermore I tried to change the settings in the advanced section of the mail account on the iPad and selected the all mail folder for the "deleted messages" field. BUT the iPad does not save the setting. Tried several times

Unable To Work With Email / Can't Find Option To Increase Messages Limitation
Apr 4, 2010
So, I have a random question about email on the iPad. One of my biggest pet-peeves about email on the iPhone is that it is limited to 200 messages displayed at once. I love being able to recall messages that are quite old on my laptop, but cannot get such an experience easily on the iPhone.
Does the iPad keep more than that displayed on the inbox? I know that might be hard to test on the first day... I'm just curious. Also, is there anyway to transfer old email messages from a MacBook Pro (no longer stored on an email server) to the iPad?
Unable To Load Email/stays Loading And Retrieve Messages As Normal?
Jun 20, 2010
Just set up my email account on iPad and it stays loading on checking For Email. I have checked my email account using my iPhone and my laptop, they retrieve my messages as normal, so I don't think it is a gmail issue?
I have been through the setup twice and even added my secondary account which does the same thing.Sorry if this has been posted before, I hope one of you can help?
I'm surprised that Apple doesn't have a way to retrieve email that was been put in the trash. I can do it with my Mac Pro/MacBook Pro/iPhone but not the iPad?
Really new to the iPad - when I receive e-mails maybe 5 within an span of 10 or 15 minutes - a couple come thru to the inbox but the rest go to the trash box. Is there something I can do to get them to all come to my inbox.
I had my email set up at pop3 email and I changed it to imap. When I delete an email it says it can't move it to the trash folder..... I want to use imap so when I delete email on my cell it deletes it on my iPad....
Trash Button Not Available For All Email Accounts?
May 9, 2012
For some reason, some of my email accounts do not have a trash button for deletion, though I can move message to the trash. Some of my Gmail accounts have the trash button while others do not. Why is the trash button not available for all of my email accounts?
