Unable To Get Fully Charge

May 17, 2010

I think it's the meter and software, not hardware, but curious if it's a unique issue.I've let it run all the way to zero before to try and reset it not long ago when I had this same issue after a charge and it then said "96%" after all night.Note:this is a full night on the 10w charger, not USB.

Unable To Charge Fully/battery Only Showed 88%.

Dec 5, 2010

I've had the 4.2.1 update on my iPad for about a week now. Not happy at all with 3G and WiFi problems. But this post is not about my drastically reduced internet speeds.

Yesterday I used the iPad for a couple hours during the day, not enough to really drain it. But about supper time I decided to tap it up, so I plugged it into the Apple wall charger for about four hours before going to bed.

This is usually more than enough time to bring it back up to full strength. Yet when I unplugged it before turning in for the night, the battery only showed 88%. I thought this was very strange. I couldn't remember what the exact percentage was when I plugged it in, but I was sure I hadn't drained it enough that after four hours on charge it shouldn't be fully charged. Puzzled, I unplugged it, powered it off (not sleep), and went to bed.

This morning, I went to plug it in to finish charging while I got breakfast. After I plugged it in and it finished booting up with the green battery indicator, I noticed it immediately showed 100% charge!

What happened? Turned off, unplugged, it magically gained 12% battery during the night? Not likely. It seems to me that the iPad took the full charge yesterday, but the 4.2.1 update somehow made the corresponding % indicator unreliable. I never had anything like this happen with 3.2

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Won't Sync And Won't Charge Unless Fully Discharged

Mar 12, 2012

My first-generation iPad will no longer charge at all unless it is fully discharged (charging by wall plug or usb to mbp). Even then, if I plug it into my mbp, it charges but is unrecognized by iTunes. it DOES sync over wifi, so that hasn't been a problem until now - when the OS needs updating which can only be done by wired sync.

how can i fix this? should i do a full restore of the iPad, plug it in and pray that it works? if it isn't recognized i fear i will have demoted this device

Battery (Drain Completely And Charge Fully)

Mar 22, 2012

Just got the new ipad and am wondering about the battery charging. Heard its not the best to charge it during the night as it stays at 100%. Obviously its good to format battery once a month (drain completely and charge fully). But other times, its so unpractical to charge it during day as it charges for quite a long time. I heard its the best to start charging when its on about 15% and charge up to 80-90.

Charging Indicator Turns To Fully Charge Plug At 85 Percent

Jun 12, 2010

I just got my iPad yesterday and loving it. I do have a quick question yesterday I charged my iPad all of last night and finally took it off the charger this morning. I used it all day today, when I went to plug it into the wall charger it started to charge. When it was around 85 percent the little charging "lighting" bolt turned to the fully charge "plug" even though it was still at 85 percent. The percentage still counted up like it was charging. Is this a firmware problem or what? I've searched the web and found a few other people had this problem. I hope someone can shine some light on this. Thank you so much.
Edit: when I unplug the iPad and plug it back in it will give me the lighting bolt charging indicator but will switch to the plug a few minutes later. Here's the site I found the other person that had the same problem:URL...

Unable To Fully Charged/take Too Much Time?

Aug 29, 2010

Did a test on my iPad after installing 4.2Though I'm sure the same happened before the upgrade.I always keep a very close eye on my Battery Life and notice when things are not as I expect them to be.I did a test the other night.Charged my iPad right up to a solid 100% battery, nothing in the multitasking tray but with "Notifications On" in the settings area of the iPad.Also there is no email pushing or pulling going on. That's all turned off also.

Under the notifications area it there were only 3 things which had the normal 3 options turned on.And during my test period (24 hours) I had no notifications come through, so they were in effect inactive.iPad with full 100% charge and Notifications turned on in settings and only 3 programs with their own notifications turned on (game centre being one of them)The Charge went down from 100% to 83%.During that 24 period the iPad was just sitting there unused.

I did not even touch it once during the test as to my knowledge no notification came through. Certainly there was no sound or on screen clue to anything at all.So, nearly 20% of batter gone in 24 hours of just sitting there.

I then turned off notifications under the iPad's general settings. And left the iPad for a further 12 hours untouched. The battery power then went from 83% to 82% (which is arguably nothing)Can anyone explain why this may be the case?Does having notifications on mean these apps are in some way still hunting for data over wifi every so often?

Unable To Charge Via PC?

Nov 16, 2010

I got my iPad a couple of days ago. When I connect it to the USB port on my PC it will sync with iTunes and do everything it's meant to. However at the top of the iPad it will say "Not Charging" next to the battery icon. It will charge when connected to the mains outlet but not via PC. The USB ports on my PC are 2.0. (MY iPhone charges fine when connected to these ports also).

Windows Vista
iPhone 3Gs (16GB), iPad (16GB)
