On some forums, if I reply to an existing message on a bulletin board and quote the existing text, if the text exceeds the box to reply, I don't see a way to move the cursor to the end of the text. There is no vertical scroll bar inside the reply box and finger gestures are not recognized. When I connect the wireless bluetooth keyboard, I don't have this problem as I can use the arrow keys, but I don't see them on the internal keyboard.

There don't seem to be any cursor keys on the keyboard. If you want to correct a typo you seem to have to backspace over other text to get to where you want to be or try to reposition the cursor with your finger (which is not very precise) Have I missed something?
How do I set the cursor to automatically start blinking after the OP's message rather than dragging it down to the correct place when replying? (Thunderbird does this for me automatically but don't see an iPad setting).
And, second question, how do I select great chunks of the OP's message that are not relevant to the reply to delete?
Would anyone else like to see cursor keys added to the keyboard for additional navigation. I've been stuck a few times when writing text in these types of forums where the only way I can get to the top or bottom of text is to use the 'select' option.

The magnifying glass for precision cursor placement just doesn't quite work for me, and I believe this is the case for many others. It seems to have some "smarts" to avoid the precise location that I want.It would be so much easier, at times, if cursor keys were available to move the cursor to the precise location required. The same goes for text selection, if you could just select a start point, press ctrl (which doesn't exist at moment), cursor to the end and press ctrl again to complete the selection, some text selection tasks would be much easier (I think).
As a Windows laptop user just getting into the tablet area, this is all pretty new to me. How do I perform a left or right cursor movement when typing? Also is there a "select all" (ctrl-a on a keybopard in Windows). I have been trying to find a decent tutorial on basic navigation of the iPad. Is there an app that will enhance the iPad keyboard to provide navigation keys?
I find editing text a bit harder than it should be on the iPad. If I make an error - (and I do that quite a bit) - I place my finger on the error to correct it. The loupe appears - but it's quite imprecise. I might be a couple of characters off. I then play a hand-eye coordination game, trying to get the cursor into exactly the right spot. It can be difficult. On a desktop, If I miss with the mouse, I can reposition the cursor with cursor keys. But these keys are not available on the iPad. My solution is that some sort of cursor keys should be available for making small moves (nudges) to the typing cursor. Perhaps they could vanish once I start typing.
Keys For Delete-forward, Move Cursor, Copy, Paste?
Jun 27, 2011
Is there a way to simulate the delete-forward key on the ipad keyboard? Same question for moving cursor forwards, backwards, to the beginning of the line, to the end of the line, for copying (ctrl-C), for pasting (ctrl-P), for undoing (ctrl-Z).
Obviously, deleting the last character while typing on the iPad keyboard is straightforward. However, I was wondering if there are "Arrow Keys" hidden somewhere that would allow you to move the cursor around within a body of text for seletive deleting/editing, other than trying to place it where you want it maually using the touch screen feature?
Cursor Just Keeps On Spinning And Won't Let Me Do Anything
May 13, 2011
When i pull up itunes on my laptop the cursor just keeps on spinning and won't let me do anything. If there is an 'update' it seems to work ok. I am trying to learn how to sync things to my ipad from the laptop.
As you all know in windows you can move the mouse cursor over something to get information bubble or yellow square telling you more about that thing.I wanna know how can I do this in ipad using safari?
Can't Get The Cursor To The Bottom Of The Reply Box
Apr 14, 2010
I was thinking this would have been discussed already, maybe I failed the search. Anyway, when in this forum, if I reply to a long post with my iPad, I can't get the cursor to the bottom of the reply box to type. Am I missing something, or is this a problem with typing on the iPad?
The Cursor Is Not Show Up And No Keyboard Is Pop Up ?
Jan 17, 2011
Looking for a little insight...when I try to enter text in a web based application, SOMETIMES the cursor will not show up and no keyboard will pop up (also tried bluetooth keyboard). Also submit and browse buttons remain greyed out. In not knowing exactley how ipad interacts I am at a loss.
