Sync Takes Long Time To Take Backup
Jul 10, 2010
My Ipad takes at least 15 minutes to back up and sync everytime I plug it into the computer and I only have about 5 gigs on it. Is there a solution to this, 90% of the time is spent on back up, can I turn that off?

Takes Long Time For Sync
Nov 15, 2010
If I cancel the backup at the start of sync it takes about 2 mins. I've tried to get a backup of the iPad 3G 64GB and so far its taken 2 days. 12 hours each day and still It says its only about 10% though it.WHY is the backup taking so long? Previously when it did the backup it synced in about 5 mins. If I cancel the backup for any reason the next time it takes 24 hours at least to backup. Will the next iTunes and iOS4.2 fix the SLOW backups? If not then give me a good reason to update.I had to run the hack to disable backups at sync so it syncs in about 2-3 mins even when adding videos and bigger apps.

Sync Takes Very Long Time
May 7, 2010
This is not really a new topic. Many people reported the same problem. But I have searched and searched through the forum and I do not think I have an answer.
I have a total of about 30G of contents to sync to the iPad including music, videos and photos. One would think only the changed files should be copied, but it seems like all the files are being copied over every time a sync is performed.
I am suspecting this because I do two sync's consecutively, without even touching the iPad no definitely no changes were made, the same amount of time is required to complete the sync.
Anyone has a solution yet? This is pretty annoying

Takes A Long Time To Charge / Sync On Old Computers
May 21, 2010
I've heard a lot of comments that the ipad takes a long time to charge on old computers. I was wondering if my eMac 1.25 ghz would be able to sync with the ipad. Not too bothered about charging since I'll just use the wall charger but I am bothered about getting my stuff onto the device.

PC Connection Backing Up Takes Very Long Time?
Apr 8, 2010
It's just a 16G model, every time I connect it to PC try to transfer some files, it starts "backing up" as soon as the cable is connected, even though I do have anything new. Usually takes 20-30 minutes.
Is there a way to disable this or make it faster?

Takes Long Time For Outgoing Mail To Be Sent?
Jun 10, 2010
I am encountering an odd problem on my iPad. It takes a long time, thirty seconds to two minutes for outgoing mail to be sent. This is especially odd because I am using exactly the same SMTP settings as on my iPod Touch and MacBook and they don't have the problem. I have tried all other available port numbers for the SMTP server;

YouTube Useless - Takes Long Time To Load
Apr 27, 2010
Anyone else finding YouTube useless? It takes forever to load and I have a good high speed connection. Is it a wifi issue? Or is it the YouTube app itself? Regardless, I find that I can't use it and if I want to see a video, I call it up on my MB.

YouTube Stops And Takes A Long Time To Load
Jul 27, 2010
YouTube stops and takes a long time to load videos. It works good on my MacBook and pc, no stoping at all. I think it has something to do with the video quality being to high for my Internet speed, I have 1.5 dsl. I just play the lowest quality on my computers but I can't change it on the iPad.

Takes A Long Time To Reboot - Apple Logo Screen
Oct 21, 2010
After holding down the sleep screen and home button to reboot my iPad, it takes quite a long time for the reboot to complete. I see the Apple logo screen for significantly longer than when resetting my iPhone 4.Is that normal for reset times on iPad? Should I restore firmware like a new iPad instead of updating it and restoring from backup? If I do that, I'll lose app data, like game progress, but won't restoring from backup potentially allow whatever the problem is to continue?

IPad 3 :: Exchange Email Attachment When Forwarding Takes Long Time To Load
Jan 31, 2013
I have an iPad III with Exchange configured. User is able to receive and send messages, but when he wants to forward an attachment the device sort of hoses on Loading and after a minute or two it finally loads so he can send the message.
He has a 32MB/4G device - when I tested I was on a wireless connection, not 4G.
He has almost the entire amount free.
I upgraded the device to iOS 6.1 without any improvements.
I checked and he only had mail and contacts opened on the device.
This was happening on his iPadII but he was due for an upgrade so we moved him to an iPad III and for a long time he hasn't had any issues until recently.

Sync/Backup Takes HOURS?
Aug 17, 2010
I've been researching this problem ALL of Saturday, without any joy.
On Thursday, I purchased a brand-new iPad. After one day of adding apps, it suddenly stopped backing up. It had been slow, but that was to be expected with new data being added. I tracked down an issue with RSS feeds/Newspaper apps, which seemed to add HOURS to the backup. Delete these (NYT, BBC News, HuffPo) if possible.
The research said that the problems were many:
Use of older USB cable when syncing
SOLUTION: Use the one which came with the iPad
Two problematic .dlls stored (or not) in System 32 folder (XP Pro)
SOLUTION: Locate and replace these .dlls
Bad USB ports
SOLUTION: Switch cable around
Anti-Virus prog conflict
SOLUTION: Disable AV for a moment whilst backing up
(I even downloaded and installed "Backoff", a programme which allows you to choose whether you backup or not. Obviously, I also ticked the X on iTunes to stop it from syncing, but this defeats the problem -- eventually, I will have to backup my data)
I have tried <<all>> of these solutions without being able to backup my brand-new iPad. So what did I do: I got a replacement at the Apple Store where I had bought it just two days ago.
I came home, synced and backed up without problem, BUT when I went to add my <<first>> app the backup stalled all over again.
To test to see if it was my computer or not, I un/re-installed iTunes and Quicktime from scratch. Then I synced my Touch WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM in backing up.
I do not know what is happening. I am not a n00b. I know my way around a computer. I am at a complete loss to know how this is happening with an Apple product, which right now, is as worthless as a Windoze computer.
And if you're reading this, Apple, shame on you.
Your customers are having problems and your form replies and lack of iTunes support are a scandal.

Charge Time - Charge Takes Very Long Time
Mar 20, 2012
The new iPad charge takes very long time. It takes twice as much time compare to iPad 2. I understand that new iPad has Built-in 42.5-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery but why is the charger still 10 watts? I think this issue should be taken care of as soon as possible. Apple should replace all new iPad chargers with a new one. I am still using my iPad 2. I might actually return my new iPad back to Apple store untill this problem is fixed.
