Just bought an iPad. No one at the Apple store knew how to use it so I'm stuck. I bought this to use as a remote control for the laptop. I installed iTeleport as recommended. I'm able to sort of connect with the network that has internet access but this method has so much lag that it flat out doesn't work for me. Can someone please outline the steps required to connect to the ipad using the Macbook Pro as a private network host (there will be no internet connection allowed so no using the gmail account)?

Is anyone aware of a remote desktop app that allows me to control my PC while it is locked? For example, if someone walks into a room the computer would display the locked screen, but I would be able to use and access other features of the computer. I want to be able to leave my computer up at my office but locked so no one can tamper with my materials. I saw iTeleport, but I'm not sure if I can have that locked and still in use with my iPad.

I just bought an iPad and installed Keynote on it. I want to take the iPad somewhere and make a presentation. I would like to control the presentation with a remote. The people at Best Buy who sold me the iPad said I could use the Apple Remote and sold that to me as well. But it is not working.
* Upstairs we have our home stereo system (older receiver ((made by Rotel)), speakers, CD player). * Downstairs we have a Mac Pro with several hard drives and an Apple Airport Extreme to handle the Wifi for the house. * Also upstairs we have two Apple laptops and a brand new iPad 2.
Question: is there a way to put our music archive on a hard drive, connect it to the stereo system and have the iPad remotely control the music through the air? I think we need an Airport Express connected to the drive and the stereo? But I am not sure if its that simple or not?
What do we need here? Or is this even possible? I would love the iPad to be a virtual jukebox to control all our ripped CD collection etc...
It's small and light and the screen is fantastic. It's great for giving presentations. Except that it's not often that the audience is sitting beside you in a business setting. Is there an app that will allow me to control the iPad with my iPhone so that I can turn the iPad screen to the audience and see what I am doing on my iPhone? No? Why not? Yes?

I would like to know if the ipad can be programmed to use as a universal remote control, eg, the tv, hi-fi, projector and the gate to my house. If I am not wrong, ipad does not have infrared, but maybe the wi-fi from it can be sent to another device to throw the infrared signal to the individual appliances.
there is any remote app/program for laptop in order to control/help an ipad user?I know it's possible the other way around. Now i'm giving my mother an ipad but i'm worried about how to support her online.
I would really love to see apple implement parental controls like on the iPhone. I have a 10 y.o. Who has in the past tried to buy games without our consent so I am hesitant to leave the iPad alone with him. I would feel much more comfortable if parental controls were activated and able to limit application use, downloads, etc.
