Restoring IPad 2 From ICloud Backup?

Jun 24, 2011

I just updated my iPad 2 and girlfriends iPhone 4 to beta 2. Restored the ipad from icloud backup in about 20 minutes. now its downloading all the apps over the air. Its going to take awhile. My girlfriends phone is reading 16 hours to finish the icloud backup. I like the idea of icloud but plugging it into the computer is alot quicker however if you choose to backup to the cloud you no longer have current backups on your computer. Apple needs to either enable both at the same or build something into mac osx that lets itunes download your current backup every night so you always have the most current backup ready to be installed in less then 16 hours.

General :: IPad (iOS 8.0.2) - Restoring From ICloud Backup Not Working

Oct 17, 2014

Restoring from an iCloud backup on my iPad (iOS 8.0.2) isn't working. After choosing a Wi-Fi network, signing into my iCloud account, agreeing to the terms and conditions, selecting a backup, and entering my iCloud Apple ID password, it just immediately says "Could Not Sign In - There was a problem connecting to the server."

I can set up my device as a new iPad, sign in and use the App Store with it, but it just can't sign in to restore all my purchases and data. :/

I've never had an issue restoring from an iCloud backup before. I guess I should also have made a regular backup in iTunes before I restored.

Restoring Backup To A Different IPad

Oct 25, 2011

I owned an iPad 1 until this spring, when I sold it for financial reasons. I'm about to get one again, however. It is also an iPad 1, 32gb, except this one will have 3G. Normally, I wouldn't want to restore a backup to a different device, just to avoid any potential issues and start fresh But I lost some files I'd created on my first iPad. Since I have the backup iTunes took of it, can I safely restore that backup to the new iPad - keeping in mind the backup was for a WiFi model, not the 3g? Any cautions to be aware of? Would love to get my files back!

IPad Mini :: Restoring From Most Recent Backup

Oct 12, 2013

A friend of mine recently developed a fault with the screen on his iPad mini resulting in Apple replacing the iPad mini with a new one. Before they did this I advised him to backup his iPad so that in this event he would be able to restore his apps/settings etc to the way it was. A full backup was done the night before the iPad was taken into Apple and replaced.

When the new iPad was plugged in and restored from the most recent back up (which is the one taken the night before the iPad was replaced) it hasn't restored anything from the old iPad - no music/apps or photos but seems to have restored some things from his old iPhone. Not sure whether this makes a difference but the old iPad was iOS6 and the new one is running iOS7 - I wouldn't have thought this would make a difference but Unsure why else the new iPad isn't restoring correctly?

IPad Mini :: IOS 7.1.2 - Restoring From Older Backup

Aug 22, 2014

I had my iPad wiped while on vacation because the wrong access code was entered too many times. (lesson #1: unpair bluetooth keyboard from iPad before throwing them in a bag). So my only option was to wipe everything and restore as new. Now being back home, I wanted to restore from the backup I had made on iTunes just before I left. Unfortunately, I did not check the "Prevent iPods etc from syncing automatically" in iTunes prior to plugging my iPad (lesson #2), so iTunes did a backup before I could realize what was happening. So now, I have only one backup available: the one just made, which is useless.

I do regular backups of my mac with Time Machine, so I'm hoping there's a way to get the older backup by accessing the files on TM.

Hacking :: Restoring IPad 3 Backup Onto Another IPad3 Or IPad4?

Sep 27, 2013

my iPad3 is now defective and attempts to resurrect it are failing. I have a backup done about 2 weeks back on my iPad3, which was on 5.1.1 and jailbroken. I am now considering purchasing a used iPad 3 or iPad 4 and restoring the backup to it. Before I do so, I would like to find out whether I need to check anything in particular on the used iPad 3 or 4 that I am going to buy, or is it sufficient that I ensure that the IOS on that machine is at least 6.1.2 or older. Assuming it has not been jailbroken, does it mean that all I need to do is to jail break it (using absinthe or something) and thereafter restore my backup onto it? Is there anything that I need to watch out for given that the used machine is not within my control. My main aims are to restore my 5.1.1 backup onto it with jail break so that I can carry on with using the new device from where I left off.

New IPad Users Restoring From ICloud

Mar 15, 2012

App downloads, app downloads, app downloads. Okay, iCloud is great for restoring your device to exactly how it was. Especially because I've just bought the new iPad. BUT, most of the Apple Inc. apps, amongst many others have recent been updated to support the retine display. don't let your iPad download these apps from your backup. Just delete them, and re download them directly from the app store. The chances are, your last backup may if only downloaded the old apps. It's downloading once more, then having to download them once again to support the retina updates.

IPad :: Restoring To New Without ICloud Details

Aug 29, 2014

We have a second hand business which lends on iphone/ipads etc. People have left iPads and iPhones behind which make them the businesses legal property. I've tried to reset the phone to new but am roadblocked by iCloud which requires "Find My iCloud" to be disabled. That all sounds great except the device is locked into the previous owners accounts and I don't have their passwords.

Since these customers have "dumped" their devices at my store I'm not in a situation to ring them and ask them to disclose their personal information by means of an iCloud password so I can reset their phones/ipads.

I have proof that I am the legal owner of the devices and I'm sure I could take that to a Genius Bar and they would reset them but I was wondering if there is something I could do at home to save me a trip to an Apple Store.

Restoring IPad 2 From ICloud After Total Reset?

Apr 22, 2012

I indicated in the setting of my new iPad not to backup to the iCloud mail, calendar, or contacts; however, when I did a reset "Erase All Content and Settings" and then a restore from the iCloud, the mail, calendar and contacts returned. I would have expected that my email passwords and user accounts would have been wiped out with the reset and I would have had to reinput. I don't want my mail, calendar, or contacts stored/backed up in iCloud. What am I missing? Clearly the Mail, Contacts, and Calendar are set to Off under the iCloud settings.

I've exchanged my WiFi only model to the 3G model. I'd like to keep my settings and apps from the previous iPad to the new one so I've made a backup. When I get my 3G iPad do I just do a full restore? A full restore won't overwrite any 3G only data that exists on that model iPad? I just want to make sure I do it the right way without buggering anything up.

IPad 2 :: Restoring To Exact State Using ITunes Backup After Factory Reset

Sep 4, 2014

I resetted my ipad to factory default and tried to restore it from a itune backup that was made the previous day, but the backup doesnt kick in properly.

The following settings is not restored when I try to restore it from a recent complete backup that was saved to my harddrive.

-iCloud apple ID.
-All email account settings.
-Application data for google authenticator.

The applications are not being put into their folders/groups on the ipad when I try to restore it, instead all apps are spread out all over the place without any groups.

I dont understand, why doesnt my previous backup copy restore my ipad to the exact state it was at the time when the backup copy was saved?

I have 9 backup copies in itunes and none of them fully restore my ipad.

What can i do to restore my ipad using the backup?

Restoring A 3g From A Wifi Backup

May 3, 2010

For those people who had Wifi models and then bought 3g models, did you have to do anything special to get the Wifi backup to load onto the 3g? Or was it just a simple "restore from backup" the first time you plug in the 3g?My first attempt at "restoring" the 3g from the Wifi backup just now ended with some kind of error and it copied over my Safari bookmarks and my music but none of my Apps.
