View 6 RepliesI have my iPad 2 with me in Berlin, and bought a prepaid micro-SIM card at a Deutsche Telekom store. The card cost 10 euros, and I gather it includes two days access, and I can add 5 euros per each day of additional access that I want. So far it's working great.
The only thing I'm not clear on is where/how to add this additional time. The staff in the store spoke vastly better English than my German, but this point remained fuzzy, and this is the first time I've bought a SIM card. Is this generally done via a menu on the iPad? Or via a website?
Is it possible to use an itunes prepaid card to pay for the AT&T 3G service? I do not want to put my credit card number out there in order to sign up for 3g service?

View 25 RepliesThis post is really for those moving from a iPad1 to a iPad 3, but may be of interest to all users, and you may think something like this is rather obvious, and in the past both on previous iPads and phones it always has been.. but not today..when I came to insert a new micro-sim card into my iPad3.As you probably know, to eject the micro-sim carrier so you can insert your 3/4g micro-sim, it's just a simple case of inserting the small tool Apple supply, or by inserting a straightened paper clip or similar, but best to use the tool they give you IMO.
I had no issues installing my sim card into my iPad1 at all as you just push the tool through the hole and the tray pops out, however, this afternoon when I tried to do this with my iPad3 it just would'nt pop out, It says in the userguide to press firmly, but it felt quite solid and I was having visions of having to pop along to the Apple store sort it out.The problem was, I was pushing the eject tool square to the case as you had to do with the iPad1. On the iPad3 and I assume the iPad2 too, the tool has to be at an angle, ie. not square to the case when you press it in, due to the cases rounded edge I suppose.
I may be the only one that's come up against this issue, but no kidding, common sense tends to make you think it should be pushed in straight as thats the same line when the small plastic carrier slides out, but once I angled the tool at about 45 degrees to the case I could feel it push in and the tray popped out. It may be a quark of my iPad, but thought I'd mention it, as it really did have me stumped for a few minutes, as the last thing you want to do is to push it too hard and potentially damage something.

View 2 RepliesI just bought my new shiny iPad from the Mac Store in Ginza, Tokyo. Stopped by for a beer expecting to use it straight from the box. No chance!
Luckily, I had my PC (although I'm a Mac guy through and through) so I could at least plug it into iTunes...but...
To download apps I need an account, which means my credit card must be in the US (ditto for Paypal accounts). So I guess I have to download the Japanese iTunes and use a Japanese credit card....or will that give me the Japanese language version even though I want the English one...who the f&%$ knows. But it's been 3 hours and I have yet to use it. And I still have no idea how to transfer PDF files that I need to read, which is one many reason I bought the thing anyway.
what i already have an iPad.. do i need to have a credit card in order to use my ipad..?i tried to register in itunes. part 3 of the registration if im not mistaken is that "CREDIT CARDS" what if don't have Credit Cards can i create any account in itunes..??
View 2 RepliesI have been holding out on a purchase hoping someone would post there experience getting the Ipad from Verizon. A few questions: Do they activate the card instore, or do I just plug it into a computer to activate? How is the account managed; choice of plan, turning account on and off? Experiences from someone who ordered online? I am worried that getting started will be difficult.

Although support for Mac OS X Server's cardDAV accounts has recently been added to iPhone 4.01 it is still NOT supported on the iPad. When wil this be available or am I mistaken or missing an update? unbeboodyleivable that the Apple iPad supports Exchange 2007 better than OS X Server 2010!
