I'm sure you all get these questions all too often, but here it is again. I am a freshman in college, I have a first gen. MacBook Air. I love it, but if I can sell it and get an iPad instead, I would. I have done a bit of research on the topic.I have found some concerns being that the iPad can't multitask, sync with printers, and does not always export Pages (does Pages on iPad have a word count?) docs. correctly. Are these true?I don't use CD's, so that won't be a problem. A list of things I would use it for are as follows:1. Printing2. Typing up docs.3. Doing research for papers 3. Doing research for papers 4. Note taking (are there any good apps for this function? I use Evernote on my Air)

Printing Issues While Printing From IPad 3 To HP Photosmart Premium
Jun 20, 2012
I can print documents from my iPad 3 to HP Photosmart Premium only after three or four attempts. Is there any solution available to print documents on the go?
My iPad have never worked, 5-10 min after I started it it is typing by itself. Like a self playing piano. This video illustrates the problem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkP0dfw598k&feature=related
So, do I have to return it or can it be fixed somehow?
This topic is doing my head in! I am a university student and I just bought the new iPad. I was planning to annotate my power point files only to find out that I can only annotate PDFs . So the problem is, our lecturers upload the power points on the day so I wont have the chance to convert the power point files to PDFs on my laptop.I have tried a few apps to do this, but they either don't work or they do a ****** job by combining a slide and a half of the powerpoint to one page of PDF. I heard that Keynote can convert office files to PDFs. Can someone confirm this is the case please? And can it do a good job with its conversion?? And does the size of the powerpoint matter? I think the bigger the file the more problematic it gets (or that is what I at least think of ).
I'm going on vacation in a few days and have done a lot of research and want to take the it on my iPad instead of papers. I can't get bluetooth between my iMac and iPad, I can't use google docs, I can't use iCloud. The iMac is at ver 10.5.8. I've emailed them to myself and can open the documents within the email, which will get the job done, but I don't see how to save them. Is there something I'm missing or is it just not doable?
I need to work with MS Office docs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint docs on my iPad. Searching this discussion reveals that I need to have Document to Go Premium. I would like to invite the users sharing your experience/advice in any restrictions that I have to take note before going to this direction. Thanks!
Saw that they just announced this new cloud-based service today at Facebook's F8 conference. I'm wondering if this might be the answer to some of the iPad's word processing woes?I know Pages is awesome, but its more of a desktop publisher than a robust word processor. Let's be honest, for Word docs, it kinda stinks since a lot of the formatting gets change when importing an MS Doc. That just wont do for a lot of people (including my wife who's a college prof & also wants an iPad). So I figured since this was built by Microsoft & based off of Office 2010, it might do the trick.
I thought using Google Docs would be a great alternative to Pages, Keynote etc. for the iPad.The document would be online, viewable and able to be edited by any of my computers (including iPad). But functionality seems limited--namely entering text into the document/presentation from iPad.
I can't figure out how to share a word doc from my pc to the iPad. I went through the steps in the manual but can't find the file share option they talk about in the app tab on iTunes.
I'm a college student and i usually have a lot PDF docs to read for school. I have saved up money to either buy an ipad or a cellphone. I own a 32gb ipod touch 3g and a macbook and a dumbphone which really needs to be replaced but I want an ipad as well mainly for its ebook capabilities. I don't want to burn $300 for a kindle or a Nook. I am in dilemma and can't decide what to buy: an unlocked Motorola Milestone or a 32/64gb ipad.
I am having a similar issue as others with syncing so I have decided that I will go ahead and reset my iPad. I have many PDF docs on my iPad that I can get off through iTunes since my iPad will not sync. Is there another way to get the PDFs off the iPad?
Im wondering what apps (if any) on the app store can read/write google docs? I'm in need of emailing one out today and don't have my laptop to export it. I want to get the most full featured app.
I have a feling it's GoodReader but I'm still not certain if it can connect directly with google docs for editing & exporting.
I see some software listed in the apps store but i don't want to be burned again. Basically all i want is:
1)be able to download all my google docs locally 2)edit and create new docs locally (if not connected to wifi) and then sync to google docs when i do have wifi
Is there an app yet that will let me edit my Google Docs on iPad?
If not, how about MobileMe? Can I store documents on my iDisk, open and edit them using Pages on my iPad, and then sync the changes I've made back to the iDisk?
Is there any way to display docs downloaded from iDisc server -other than the iPhone app? The problem is that the text is either too small (normal view) or too ragged (2x view). I don't understand why Apple hasn't generated this simple app for iPad when there is all that screen real estate going to waste.
