Not Enough Space With 23GB Free - Error Message - There Is Not Enough Space To Download This Item
Apr 16, 2011
I have a 64GB 3g iPad. According to my iPad, I have 23.3GB free. I am trying to download a HD season of a show, which judging from previous seasons should be in the 7 GB range.
When I go to download it, I get the following error message: "There is not enough space to download this item. Please delete some photos or videos"
It'll be a few days before I can sync with my PC and delete some things, but any reason why I get this error when I have 3x the room required?
I purchased the N Drive USA app and tried to install on my iPad. I'm getting the error message "The application 'USA' was not installed on the iPad because not enough free space was available". However, I have 3.97 GB of free space and according to the sync page, the app is only 2.24 GB. Is there some sort of max limit designated for apps? This is driving me nuts!

ITunes Syncing Error Reports Not Enough Free Space?
Apr 11, 2010
Having an issue with syncing the iPad where iTunes reports that there is not enough free space to transfer the selected data. In this case it was an app(The Elements) which is 1.78 GB. The iPad has 3.8 GB free space, yet the app cannot be transfered because there is "Insufficient space". I used to see the same problem with my iPhone when attempting to sync back the photos i just copied off the camera app. There is definately free space, but iTunes seems to see something different than what is reported.BTW. I could not sync the app to the iPad using iTunes, but there was enough free space to directly download the app on the iPad. Seems like a problem with iTunes to me.Is iTunes and the iPad reporting an incorrect amount of free space? Can iTunes be forced to transfer apps without checking for the amount of free space? Any other ideas?

Storage Space Problem-I Received An Out Storage Space Memory Message
Sep 26, 2010
I have 32gig iPad with approx 16 gig of programs, pictures, audio files. I recently tried to upgrade a couple of programs and I received a out storage space memory message.I connected to iTunes and confirmed I only had 16 gig of programs etc But I now have a 16 gig OTHER file.I have looked for days online for a explanation why and have found nothing that talks directly to this problem. I believe it is some kind of cache file and from what I have read deleting the program that created it will delete the Other file but how do you know what program created it? I have tried re-syncing, re-booting, just about every suggestion for fixing an iPad or iPhone problem there is with no luck. Except a restore. Is there a way to delete this Other file without doing a restore? What caused this file to grow to the size of all of my available storage space? How do I determine what program did this so I can take steps to prevent it from happening again? What is the meaning of life?............Oh sorry I got carried away.
I deleted over 1 GB of apps from my 16GB iPad and synced but no space was freed afterward. Then I noticed that if I change the check mark on any app in iTunes the space bar immediately shows the lesser space. But when I sync the available space reverts back to the higher amount. How can I free up space?
Just today I have had some issues with syncing my iPad. It said error in the disk. When I checked I noticed that I have too many files on my iPad. Basically I am over the limit. Its strange because only yesterday I checked that I had a few gigs left. I went into Goodreader, deleted some of the bigger files, Switched off syncing in podcast, movies etc. The main problem are the "Other" files is taking 40GB for some strange reason. I use to have some movies in Stash software but I already deleted those today. Also Comics I deleted some main files but the "Other" category is not moving. I tried restarting and syncing but the same. What's strange is that in the color coded space indicator on the ipad, there is nothing showing for audio, and when I deselect voice memo, the audio space color appears. After syncing my "Other" files just added 2GB on top of what I already have but I didn't add any new files into the equation. The indicator bar is very inaccurate and always keep showing and hiding things. When the bar reaches max it won't let me sync. Could it be just something wrong with the indicator for iTunes 10?
When I look at the allocation of the 59.17GB of storage I have on my iPad, there is 43.5GB allocated to "Other". Can anyone tell me what that is? I don't have much on my iPad, and right now it looks like I only have 4.2GB free!!! How can I free up that "Other" space. I don't even know what it is.
I need an app to free the storage space on my iPad as it reports 8gb free space, but can't use it. Anyone know of such an app to do such a scandisk function?I ran out of storage, so I deleted some videos, and it now says I have 8gb free, but I can't import photos from my SD card any more (it was working perfectly before).I've heard people say the space it only freed after a deletion when you next do a sync, but I am traveling and won't have access to my computer until I return home.
I'm trying to sync new itunes purchases onto my ipad. My ipad tells me there is 12 GB left but itunes is convinced there is only 1GB free space. The former must be right because it has automatically removed a whole bunch of watched TV shows. How can I correct it so it will let me sync?
Once I finish reading a book using Amazons Kindle, how do I remove and save the book for rereading? I want to save the books I pay for, but I do not see how to remove a book to free up space on the Ipad.
