Just upgraded to the latest version on my ipad and noticed a new icon in mail. Looks like a box with and arrow that points into it. It does something to mail when I click it, but what ? I checked the handy dandy manual for the new OS but it has NOT been updated with the new icons.....

I don't want my email to download to my iPad until I specifically tell it to manually, yet it appears to be doing so automatically each time I open the Mail app. I have several email accounts, some gmail, some with myISP and a mixture of POP and IMAP.
My settings are:

So I would assume the user manual coming with the 3G's will be slightly different than the current downloadable PDF in Apples manual section here on the site?
View 3 RepliesJust started using mail in the new ipad and see an icon in the inbox on the left handside in between the move icon and the reply icon. What is it and what does it do to a file? I clicked an old email on it and it seemed to have stored it or did it delete it.

Before I take the leap of faith into getting me an iPad, I need to know if I can read PDF documents, highlight text and make notes to it. I have to read tons of stuff on a daily basis. Does anyone know if I can do this with an iPad?
View 3 RepliesI am new to this forum and basically a new Apple user in general. I received an iPad for my birthday and love the thing. I use the Wifi from my wireless network at home and it works wonders. I have an Evo and tried to use it as a hotspot until I realized I needed to pay that extra $29.99/month for the capability. I've read that there are ways to use the Evo as a hotspot for the iPad via Bluetooth or USB without having to pay the extra $29.99. I was hoping that someone here would be able to explain how to use either of these methods. Would this device have anything to do with the USB connection?

And that there are zero announced products that would support this? No jailbroken options as well, right? Bonus points if anyone can say why such a product does not exist. Is it b/c Apple locks down BT or b/c BB locks down its wifi ? I can already tether from BB BT to macbook pro BT.

View 3 RepliesI have an email icon with a number of emails that are supposed to be there but there are no emails in the program. This happened right after I tried to email an invoice to the mail program and copy it into pages. Pages did not like that but I cannot get rid of the number of email messages the program thinks is there.

I have Mail listed in my notification center however, I don't get notified of new mails. The red circle on the Mail icon that should notify me of new emails doesn't appear. So, I keep having to launch the Mail app to check whether or not I have new emails and wait for them to get downloaded, when I exit the app this is when the red circle shows up with the number of the unread downloaded emails. Is this how it's supposed to work? Can't I get notified without having to launch it?

Anyone else having this? Yes, I have the right choice in mail account settings (Gmail). Must be a bug. Tried a hard reset. The trash icon showed up for a split second when I launched mail but then reverted to the All Mail icon

So I received the iPad yesterday and, obviously, the first thing I did was jailbreak it. After setting it up and visiting Cydia to download some apps, I noticed that my mail icon randomly appears next to the battery percentage. It may sometimes go away if I launch an app (I've noticed this with native apps), but that's not always a given.
I thought it was a theme (which may or may not have been compatible with the iPad), but I've since uninstalled it. The problem still pops up (no pun intended). After a hard reset, it still appeared as well.he iPad is not even a day old, so if I have to, I'll just restore and set it up as new, but I'd rather hold off on that until further notice.
Has anyone come across this? I know I can just backtrack and uninstall each jailbreak app I installed, but I figured I'd ask just in case someone has seen this and knows what caused it.
When I tap on Mail icon it's coming up with "registration page", that's already been done in the General Settings icon, how do I get Mail icon to work again?
