Restoring A 3g From A Wifi Backup

May 3, 2010

For those people who had Wifi models and then bought 3g models, did you have to do anything special to get the Wifi backup to load onto the 3g? Or was it just a simple "restore from backup" the first time you plug in the 3g?My first attempt at "restoring" the 3g from the Wifi backup just now ended with some kind of error and it copied over my Safari bookmarks and my music but none of my Apps.

Hacking :: IPad 3 WiFi 5.1.1 - Restoring To IOS 6.0.1

Dec 23, 2013

So I have an Ipad 3 Wifi 5.1.1 and I want to restore it to ios 6.0.1. At first, I tried to restore it using an 6.0.1 IPSW, but I faced with error 3194 and when I was using Tiny Umbrella, i faced another error 11.

MAIN QUESTION: I have an IPSW 6.0.1 and I do have ios 6.0.1 shsh blobs. Can i create a custom IPSW and use it to restore my Ipad, and do I must have ios 5.1.1 shsh blobs to restore ?

Wifi Passwords 'forgotten' After Restoring Device

Apr 25, 2012

I have a backup of one of my iPads - the device which is backed up connects to a few different wifi networks and obviously has the passwords for those networks saved.

The problem is that when I restore from that backup, all the wifi passwords are forgotten.

I know the networks are not being forgotten as a few require additional proxy settings (IP etc) and those details copy across, just not the passwords. It's incredibly annoying, considering I restore 30 devices from this backup every week, which all then need all the wifi passwords entered manually for each network.

3.2 Not Restoring 3.2.1

Aug 5, 2010

I am new to the forums but not to the scene as usually i can figure out what to do without asking for help but i'm stuck now with my ipad 3.2 (using itunes 9.2.1, 3.2 ipad, tried restart, etc)i jailbroke it at 3.2 from stock and now i want to update it to 3.2.1 but i can't even get past the restore option from itunes. i put it in restore mode then run itunes restore and it verifies the firmware and then it proceeds to install 3.2.1. i hear a bunch of connect/disconnect sounds and the status bar on the ipad shows up but it does not move, only the preparing ipad for restore bar in itunes is moving over and over. it stays at 0 the whole time on the ipad but eventually it will give me the error 1611. what should i do? sorry if i posted this in the wrong place.

Restoring From Backup - Non 3G To 3G ?

Oct 28, 2010

I've exchanged my WiFi only model to the 3G model. I'd like to keep my settings and apps from the previous iPad to the new one so I've made a backup. When I get my 3G iPad do I just do a full restore? A full restore won't overwrite any 3G only data that exists on that model iPad? I just want to make sure I do it the right way without buggering anything up.

Restoring Your 3.2.1 Back To 3.2.1

Sep 14, 2010

Lots of instructions exist for restoring back to factory defaults, but they fail to deal with the fact that only 3.2.2 is out now. My ipad is on 3.2.1 and jailbroken, and I saved my SHSH 3.2.1 to Cydia, but if I follow all the existing instructions (including modifying my hosts file), iTunes will Still attempt to install 3.2.2 to my ipad. Here's how to get your ipad back to a clean 3.2.1, assuming it is currently on 3.2.1 and you want to simply clean it up (I buggered around so much with mine I killed my wifi). It will now re-flash your ipad back to a virgin 3.2.1 system. From here, do whatever you want - restore your apps, reconfigure it, jailbreak it, etc.

Restoring The IPad 2?

May 7, 2011

I recently saved up all of my money and purchased and iPad 2 (yeah im 13 years old) after a year or so. I loved it! Around the first week with my iPad, I noticed serious bleeding lights ALL around the corners of the display. I had read of these problems online and finally decided to wait a bit before I went in and got it replaced. I finally got it replaced today and thought everything was fine. I came home connected to my PC (which is slow as crap). After connecting I chose to restore to the back-up of my iPad which I ha made before my trip to the Apple Store. It seemed fine as it loaded 11 miniutes remaining,10 miniutes remaining and so on. Finally, it finished so went to unlock my iPad and as i expected, my lockscreen wallpaper was there. I unlocked and wondered why my passcode wasn't required. Then Started to Scroll and there were none of my apps. On the second homescreen though, there was one of my catogories (called entertainment)and it contained only iPod and Video but none of my other entertainment apps were there. So basically I have nio apps loaded. I havent tried manually loading them because I dont know if I will lose my app progress and setting for apps e.t.c

Restoring And Syncing Stucks?

Dec 5, 2010

1. When I try to sync it becomes stuck on the 'determining tracks to sync' stage for hours on end...

2. When I attempt to restore it (which I am trying to do as the mute button is having no affect) I am told the update source cannot be found so it cannot be restored...
I am tempted to go into Settings, General, Reset, Reset. This will reset the ipad to factory settings?

Will this fix any problems? and will I loose all my apps if I do this?

Restoring Backup To A Different IPad

Oct 25, 2011

I owned an iPad 1 until this spring, when I sold it for financial reasons. I'm about to get one again, however. It is also an iPad 1, 32gb, except this one will have 3G. Normally, I wouldn't want to restore a backup to a different device, just to avoid any potential issues and start fresh But I lost some files I'd created on my first iPad. Since I have the backup iTunes took of it, can I safely restore that backup to the new iPad - keeping in mind the backup was for a WiFi model, not the 3g? Any cautions to be aware of? Would love to get my files back!
