Without request, the keyboard split in two such that you have to use two hands to type on opposite ends of the screen. Very annoying and inefficient when you are not a two thumb typer on a small screen. I can see having that on a phone but not the iPad. How to get my full sized across screen keyboard back!
I have the new iPad (wifi). I have done something to change on-screen keyboard, it has now split in half, like ergonomic physical keyboard. How do I change it back?
On the screen when I type the keyboard is split right down the middle not touching whatsoever. It still types but letters are small and close together.
Is there a way to split the keyboard but keep it at the bottom of the screen? Whenever I split the keyboard it moves the keyboard almost half way up which blocks a lot of the screen.
I kinda like this. It would be great to be able to have a few options, for whatever situation you find yourself in. Saw it and thought I would share. But if a App ever came forth, I doubt Apple would pass it. ?Source: Split Keyboard For iPad [Concept] | Redmond PieDue to its large screen size and space, iPad is extremely comfortable to work with in most cases. However, there are times when you feel awkward holding it from one hand, and typing from another in the landscape mode. Your one hand here becomes nothing more than a dock, whereas the other one remains hanging in air - used only for on-screen typing. Not so cool right?.
Perhaps this should go in the iOS 5 section, but does anyone know of a way to keep the split keyboard undocked? Love the split keyboard, but it makes far more sense in the middle of the screen,IMO. But after a bit it defaults back to the dock.
As the title states, the new 5.1.1 update removed the split keyboard function and now the keyboard consumes half of the screen in landscape mode. Does anyone have a way to fix this or know when a fix will be out? Im a disabled vet with nerve damage in both hands and I'm having a very difficult time using the keyboard!
Just saw this on Cult of Mac. I tried it out and sure enough, the split keyboard on iPad iOS5 has invisible keys that you can tap in case you forget where the actual keys are. This is similar to the microphone button on iPhone 4S behaving as a space key if you are typing away and miss the shrunken space key.If you are typing and you tap quickly to the left of H key in split-keyboard, you get the G key. Same thing on the opposite side if you tap to the right of the G key (similar behavior for T/Y keys and V/B keys). This is fairly ingenious and I think Apple should patent this -- I can't imagine many folks thinking of doing stuff like this to best-guess typing on a touchscreen keyboard.
