View 3 RepliesI don't have one yet. does it have built in sound or do you have to use headphones, or ear buds? I watched all the tutorial videos on the itunes site and they never mention speakers on the iPad.
View 11 Repliesdoes anyone know if ipad has an external speaker like the 2nd gen ipod touch. its kind of nice playing games on my touch without having to wear headphones to hear the sound. will kind of suck if there is no external speaker on the ipad. you will basically be tethered to headphones for sound
View 4 RepliesI have lost external sounds on my iPad. I can hear everything through headphones. I have double checked settings that have been previously mentioned, but cannot find anything wrong. I also can play ringtones and hear them, but no music, battery chirp or keyboard noises!

There may be a setting I'm missing, but the volume when I plug in headphones works fine...I just can't turn on or adjust the volume of my iPad's external speakers. When I play songs in iPod mode I see no volume control bar either.

I use some Creature speakers with my iMac and decided to have a go with them connected to the iPad. I unplugged them from the iMac and plugged them into the iPad. The iPad's volume control read out 'headphones' when I adjust the volume but no sound emanates from the creatures.
View 2 RepliesI've been thinking about getting an iPad. I was wondering if it had any sort of external speakers (or like the iPhone, doesn't, but still can project sound)? And also if you can plug a regular headphone jack into it. It seems like it would be pretty thin (I've never used an iPad) so it seems kind of like regular headphones wouldn't be able to plug into it.Information:iPhone OS 3.1.3
View 5 RepliesI've tried two pairs of my ear buds that I use in my iTouch and they do not work in my iPad. The external speakers keep playing and no sound in the buds. Anyone else having this problem? Does the iPad require new ear buds
View 1 RepliesOnly audio coming out of external speakers is sound effects. Headphones allow all audio. Have checked everything. Nothing is muted. Reset done with no effect.

So I'm currently loving my new gadget, just set up my speakers and airport express and am streaming my whole iTunes library from my MacBook with my iPad. Great!
Problem is, when I finish listening, I close the iPod app on the iPad, and I have no sounds playing through my device, no lock sounds, no game sounds, nothing. I switched the iPad off then on which solved the problem, but thats hardly feesible every time i use AirPlay now is it?
I've using he iPad for over a month and I've been thinking about getting a pair of Bluetooth speakers for movies and music. Then an idea came - is it possible to connect the iPad to the speakers on my desktop computer such that the iPad sees them as Bluetooth speakers? I'm guessing there's an app on the computer side for that.
View 2 RepliesSo my IPAD is making noises/sounds when I get Facebook notifications but I have all the sounds set to "off" under settings, including the ones for Facebook.
View 2 RepliesI recently bought a 5.1 speakers but the problem now is my PC broke and not working so I left only with my iPad, is there any that I can fix the 5.1 speakers to my iPad? Is there any gadget available for iPad which does that? How much will it cost?
View 2 RepliesSo as my signature says I used to be the owner of a Unibody MacBook 2.4 Ghz decked out with 4Gb RAM and Moshi Palmguard/Clearguard.
My first Mac, got it first day they came out in October 2008. Best computer I ever had, and almost 2 years later was still going strong! Never had ONE issue with it.
So last weekend it got stolen from my house (I work for a university and live in a staff house on campus). I almost NEVER leave my MacBook at home, but last weekend I had to leave town in a hurry with the girlfriend and decided to just leave it at my house. Little did I know that it was going to be the last time I ever saw it ;(. Somebody broke into my house and that was the only thing they stole.
So since then ive been weighing my options. Yesterday I went and purchased an iPad for work and am trying to see if I can survive without a MacBook.
I have a PC at the office and an iPhone 4. So I decided to give the ipad a try in order to see if it can replace my MacBook for the most basic functions.
Here are my concerns:
- getting my music off my iPhone to MobileMe so I can stream it from my PC to my iPhone an iPad.
- streaming videos from my external HDD to my iPad
- setting up some external storage accessible from the iPad
What do you guys think? Am I crazy for even trying this?
What are your suggestions for apps that could fill my needs?
BTW I am loving the iPad. It's such a great complement to my iPhone. Love the size of the screen and ease of use. It makes me think that an ideal setup would be an iPad, iPhone and Mac mini hooked up to tv. ?? Needless to say this was typed from my iPad
I hope this isn't an old question, I tried searching but couldn't find anything. So here comes: I'm thinking about buying an ipad for academic presentations. These are all in pdf format. Ideally, I would like to be able to have the projector/external monitor show the pdf slides one by one and the ipad's own monitor display my notes (also pdf). Is this possible yet with the ipad, and what app would I need? Information:
View 4 RepliesI travel to Hawaii a lot on business. Yesterday I was in downtown Honolulu on the top (21st) floor of a downtown building and was getting 1.5 megs/s of download from my Tmobile 3g droid. In San Diego ATT is not too bad so I have gotten where I leave my puter and Verizon hot spot at home and rely on ATT and my IPAD while I am out and about.
Well I was getting 0.02 megs/s from ATT and it made my IPAD unusable. Very annoying.
Here at the hotel in Waikiki I now have my Verizon 3G hotspot available and can get between 1 and 1.3 megs/s download, while my Tmobile is getting about the same and my IPAD ATT 3g is again about 0.04 megs/s (or whatever those units are on the speedtest app.)
Now I understand how people can like Apple but why do they make such good hardware and than do such stupid things like have an exclusive with a carrier like ATT?

I've noticed my iPad seems to get a stronger 3G signal than my iPhone 3GS. Anyone else? Maybe a better antenna and chip?
View 2 RepliesMy new iPad has a little Wi-Fi issue. When it's laid down,it's Wi-Fi signal bar drops to 2-1 bars. However, sometimes,it's randomly drops bars when it's not laid down at all and it also drops bars when in another room. It's about 1-week old and still brand new. It's running iOS 3.2.
Type of iPad: iPad Wi-Fi 64GB
How old it is: 1-week old
How many GBs are left: 43.1 GB
Type of router/Base Station: AirPort Express 802.11n

I activated my ipad (32G, 3G) with USB, then try to upload some pix to ipad. After about 10 min, the screen turned to black.Backlight could be seen if I press the buttons. But there's no any picture/icon except the weak backlight.I tried to restore for a couple times, but no effect.
I was playing with my WIFI settings and noticed my channel settings were set to auto which means its constantly changing. This makes it hard to keep the signal constant. I switched from auto to a set channel ( I used 11 ) and since then I have had a full connection without dropping. I wanted to share and I hope it helps.
I have the 32gb iPad with 3G. I mainly use the iPad at home so it is conected to my wireless N network. I have noticed that if i leave my cellular data "on" then connect to wifi, My wifi signal stays right down at the bottom in terms of signal strength (according to the bars). If I turn off the 3G, my signal goes to full.I don't have a big house and this happens regardless of where i am (same room as router or not). Is there a correlation between 3G being on and the wifi that anyone else is seeing?
