View 7 RepliesIs the new iPad(iPad 3) WiFi + 4G model carrier locked? for example: Can i use it in Armenia networks with 3G or 4G if I buy a one in US online store? and if yes what model should I buy Verizon or AT&T?
View 4 Repliesa friend of mine went to buy me an iPad in the U.S, he asked in both Apple store and Best Buy and they both told him that it's locked to AT&T. steve didn't mention it's unlocked in his iPad keynote speech? since I will be using this iPad in Lebanon & Egypt, a locked iPad 3G is a waste.
View 6 RepliesDoes anyone know if the iPad 3G is carrier locked? I know it's contract-free/prepaid, but is it carrier locked to AT&T? With all the credit card integration they must have some soft of back end setup with AT&T. How would using another network's micro sim work? Would there be any setup invovled OR would you just pop in the sim and go?
View 3 RepliesIf the rumors are true that T-Mobile will be the next carrier for the iPhone, does that mean iPad as well? As a T-Mobile customer, that would be sweet.

I just bought a used iPad 2. I do not have a SIM nor do I have access to one.
When I go to Settings - General - Carrier it shows Rogers 10.0. Is this normal?
I just had notification on my Mac about a carrier update for my iPad 3 (3G).Synced it up and after it had finished I found the personal hotspot option under Settings, Network. All I have to do now is buy a gig block of 3G data.
View 2 RepliesThis post is really for those moving from a iPad1 to a iPad 3, but may be of interest to all users, and you may think something like this is rather obvious, and in the past both on previous iPads and phones it always has been.. but not today..when I came to insert a new micro-sim card into my iPad3.As you probably know, to eject the micro-sim carrier so you can insert your 3/4g micro-sim, it's just a simple case of inserting the small tool Apple supply, or by inserting a straightened paper clip or similar, but best to use the tool they give you IMO.
I had no issues installing my sim card into my iPad1 at all as you just push the tool through the hole and the tray pops out, however, this afternoon when I tried to do this with my iPad3 it just would'nt pop out, It says in the userguide to press firmly, but it felt quite solid and I was having visions of having to pop along to the Apple store sort it out.The problem was, I was pushing the eject tool square to the case as you had to do with the iPad1. On the iPad3 and I assume the iPad2 too, the tool has to be at an angle, ie. not square to the case when you press it in, due to the cases rounded edge I suppose.
I may be the only one that's come up against this issue, but no kidding, common sense tends to make you think it should be pushed in straight as thats the same line when the small plastic carrier slides out, but once I angled the tool at about 45 degrees to the case I could feel it push in and the tray popped out. It may be a quark of my iPad, but thought I'd mention it, as it really did have me stumped for a few minutes, as the last thing you want to do is to push it too hard and potentially damage something.
How can I update the carrier settings on the iPad? Can I do it manually?
View 11 Repliesi'm looking for something stylish and practical that's not too big. I currently have this: Ally Capellino bag. And it's beautiful and practical. The straps make it difficult for pickpockets and it's sturdy. It would fit the iPad 2, with the smart cover on (I presume as they aren't available in the UK until 5 hours time,) but I'm worried it'll rattle about to much and damage the back of the iPad. So i'm looking for a replacement. Also a little pocket that actually fits the iPhone 4 in snug would be really nice. Oh and one last thing.. it needs to be able to ship to the UK if not a UK site.
View 1 RepliesEvery Time I plug my ipad 2 into sync with my MacBook Pro 15 (2008) or it sees it on wifi and starts to sync, I get this prompt. It started last week, and now happens EVERY time. I sync about 3 times a day, and each is held up by the prompt, for me to accept it. It used to be seamless, it now needs me to "manage" every sync. I have accepted and installed each time, and have just done a restore on the iPad, but it hasn't solved the problem. I have latest software on BOTH h/ware items. I am on O2 Network in UK on iPad, and my Network for Internet is: BT

I recently lost my iPad and my insruance company have stated that I need to block my iPad via IMEI. The problem is that I did not have a SIM card in the device and therefore there is no carrier attached to it to be able to block it for me.
How do i block my iPad IMEI if I have no carrier (no SIM)?
I have purchased a secondhand iPad mini and need to unlock it from the carrier it was purchased from. How do I do this?

When I plug in my iPad 2 with MacBook Pro for syncing files, iTunes prompts me to update the carrier settings with the iPad. Why is this so and can we prevent this prompting?
View 2 RepliesI will admit that this us a windup, but there is one aspect of the iPad WiFi that particularly irks me, the lack of GPS receiver. It really can't be explained away in terms of battery life, deciding what features to leave out in the name of good tablet design etc.I can think of only two possible reasons:-
1. A lack of imagination in thinking that GPS was only required to support Google Maps and the like. No thought given to GPS apps that have on board maps, such as in-car navigation or "raster mapping" apps.
2. Over-eagerness to send revenue the way of the mobile carrier that Apple originally aligned with for the iPad 3G.
I am in the process of receiving my iPad 3G in Australia - imported from the US 3G iPad launch. I am interested to hear any stories of people who have swapped the AT&T SIM with another carrier and succeeded to get 3G services to work.
View 2 Repliesyou can change the "carrier name" or iPad to say whatever you want
View 5 RepliesI'm an 18 year old student that's going to enter college in the fall. I already own an iPhone, iMac, and MacBook Pro to give you some background info. The iPad really tempts me based on the fact that I can download all of my college books in eBook format and save money and only have to carry the iPad around VS. all of the books individually. With all the Apple products I have already would it be stupid for me to purchase a 16GB iPad?
View 11 RepliesIs there any way to unlock a Carrier from the iPad, so I can choose which Company to go with.
