Converted RTF File To EPub Sync To IBooks

Apr 4, 2010

So I thought I'd test the ePub format on iBooks. Took a large RTF file and converted to ePub format using Calibre. Loaded to the iPad and ... it only showed the cover art and the first page of Chapter 1, then nothing else the whole 300+ pages.

I went back to view it in Calibre and the whole doc is there. Has anyone else tried converting from any format to ePub, then synching to iBooks? Would be interested to hear feedback on it.

IPad :: EBook Sync - EPub File Doesn't Stay But It Goes Away

Aug 18, 2013

I have some ebooks that I want on my iPad. But it doesn't work.

When my iPad and my Macbook pro has synced, I paste the epub file of that book to my booklist. I then see the name of that book in my list but it's still grey. When I click sync, at step 2 it removes the book and at step 3 the book isn't still there. That epub file doesn't stay but it goes away.

Need To Create A Songbook File?

Nov 21, 2010

I normally use a songbook to glance at while playing guitar and would like to put all of my songs on my iPad. The documents I use were all created in Word. I would like to be able to arrange them in a particular order and be able to just tap the iPad to move to the next song, similar to reading a book in iBooks. I have all of my songs saved in Pages, Word, and PDF format. Does anyone know of an app that will fill this need or a way to create something for use on the iPad to do this?

Audiobook Chapters Out Of Order

Jun 16, 2010

I have converted my audiobooks into .m4b files with chapters listed within each file. Ex. I have chapters 1-30 under Eye of the World 1 and chapters 31-60 under Eye of the World 2. The ipod on my iPhone is able to to understand there are two seperate .m4b files (The Eye of the World 1 &2) and play them accordingly. Apple's OS does number them on its own though so under Eye of the World 1 I have chapters 1-30 and since its there are 30 marks it names them accordingly 1-30. The problem comes in on subsiquent file like Eye of the World 2 where there is chapter 31-60. Since this is a new file it numbers Chapter 31 under 1, chapter 32 under 2, so on and so forth. I apologize for the long explanation especially for those of you that will help me but I wanted to explain my though process and that I have an ok understanding of this. I don't know if the iPhone does it better or if iOS 3.2 for the iPad is doing something else and mixing them up due to this. Please help this is driving me insane. That you in advance for your time!

IOS 5 Music App Does Not Support Audiobook Chapters

Oct 12, 2011

The "new" Music.app on iOS 5 on iPad does not support viewing of Audiobook (.m4b / .aa) chapters and their titles. Nor does it provide for direct selection of chapters. This is a loss of functionality compared with the iPod.app on iOD 4.3 on iPad. The prior app provided a means of viewing the chapters and their titles and the direct selection of a desired chapter.

The current Music.app does provide for the user to tap the fast forward / backward buttons to skip to chapter marks but there is no display of the chapter title for a selection so there;s no useful way to know where one is in the Audiobook. Further, Audiobooks frequently contain 10s of chapters in a segment (usually limited to around 100 MB / segment (track if you prefer) by Audible).

The iPhone (and I presume iPod Touch) version of the Music.app retains the chapter viewing and selection functionality from previous iOS 4.3. Only the iPad version of the app has lost the functionality. Without viewing of chapters and their titles and direct selection of chapters, Audiobooks in the Music.app are basically unusable.

Converting DVDs With Multiple Chapters To My System

Nov 2, 2010

First off, thank you in advance to anyone that reads this and can offer some assistance. My wife purchased me the 64gb WiFi model for my birthday and i've been enjoying it a lot. Because i travel a lot for work i decided to convert some old cooking DVD's and others. I used DVDShrink to rip each DVD into an .ISO and inside each archive is an empty /audio folder and a /video folder with about 8 .VOB files. At this point i tried using my MPEG-4 converter on the .ISO file which it wouldn't do, so i extracted all the .VOB files and loaded each one separately in the MPEG-4 converter and it converted each file as a single file not as one archive with all the menus and chapters intact. I was able to load all of them into my iTunes library and they play, but i was looking for a way to convert all of them into 1 file rather than 8 scattered files.
