Oct 21, 2013My iPad sound all of a sudden won't work. When I try to adjust the volume, a gray 'Sound Effects' icon comes up, but doesn't adjust volume. I tried a hard reset, power on/off, even the mute switch which I knew wasn't the problem. From what I read on the Apple forum, it seems to be something hardware related with the dock connector. Apparently, metal debris gets in there. I tried to look at it but don't see any debris in there. I tried also switching the charging cable.

Jul 4, 2012My New IPad brightness icon appears at will and stays on in the middle of the screen for several seconds, and at times, several minutes. I have tried turning on and off the brightness auto set. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the brightness setting. It seems to happen more often when the IPad is working. For example, when I do a google search, or start an app. It's driving me nuts!

May 24, 2012I recently realized that the main volume control in settings isn't the only control and that Mute doesn't really mean Mute (its Different). There is a volume control in settings under sounds that corresponds to the side buttons (if set up that way). The is also a "sound effects" volume that the side buttons seem to control, but only during certain conditions. When "sound effects" volume comes into play and what it controls if not notification sounds? There is also the Mute switch which only Mutes Apps sounds and notifications, but it doesn't Mute Safari or YouTube so it obviously doesn't Mute all Apps.
There is also the volume controls found in the taskbar which seem to be tied to the ipod side of things, but also control the camera shutter sound and keyboard clicks. This has to be the most confusing way of doing volume ever. Separate sliders for each volume in Settings under Sounds and a couple switches in Settings to choose what gets muted, easy, intuitive, done. Unless someone could explain the logic behind their method and/or explain "sound effects" volume and/or how to actually mute the speaker entirely and easily.

IPad 3 Volume Control Says Sound Effects And Won't Adjust
May 1, 2012Regardless of the mute button/orientation lock whenever I push up or down on the volume control buttons on the side of the iPad, the Volume indicator that lights up in the center of the screen says "Sound Effects" and there are no bars below it to indicate the actual volume, and it will not change. If I double press the home button, and swipe right to the dimmer/volume/play controls, the volume bar doesn't even show up in its location there. I'm thinking that the kids changed something in one of their games. And turning it off, or even doing the hard reset of pushing the home and off button simultaneously doesn't clear the problem out.

Jun 21, 2012Only audio coming out of external speakers is sound effects. Headphones allow all audio. Have checked everything. Nothing is muted. Reset done with no effect.

Mar 1, 2014last night the sound just stopped while I was in the middle of a game. I've checked every setting I know of and still nothing. I did a restore and it upgraded to the latest 7.0.6 and still no sound. No sound with Siri or keyboard.

Apr 3, 2010I've been messing around with my iPad for a while and all was going good until I opened up a Sketching app. The background was white and I noticed a black dot right in the center of the screen. Thinking it was dust or some kind of smudge or something, I go to wipe it off, only to see that it won't come off. It must be something under the screen.You may think I'm being picky and that I should be grateful that I got an iPad today, and I am. I'm only complaining because it is SMACK in the middle of the screen, and now that I know it's there I won't forget it. I don't know what I should do. I'm thinking about calling my Apple store and seeing what they say.

Jun 7, 2011Just got my brand new iPad delivered to me by fed ex this morning, when I finally open up the box and connect my iPad to iTunes, I notice that my iPad has a scratch in the middle of the screen. I tried cleaning it with glass cleaner and soft cloth, but it would not rub off (so, it's a scratch). It's about 1/4 inch long. What should I do? Should I just live with it? This product cost me nearly 800 dollars so I would like to have something perfect in my hands...

Blue Pixels Across Middle Of Screen
Apr 25, 2010Got mine via the us last thursday and was fine for a few hours then all of a sudden the screen just changed to blurry images and colours. I done a restore which seemed to sort the problem but i now have blue pixels across the screen in various places which even curve around the app icons, anyone else has this. As i am in UK i was worried about this and went in to my store in Newcastle and they said no support in UK yet so may be a hardware issue that possibly will need to be returned to US but he told me to ring UK, They have clarified the situation and told me not to worry as the ipad is NOT going to be country specific and they will replace my unit as soon as it is released in UK at end of may, explained that it cant be changed or fixed here yet as no ipads or parts in UK.
