View 3 RepliesAfter upgrading my iPad today to 4.2.1 (full restore, then start from scratch) I was setting up my 5 email accounts. Something that has perplexed me, but I really have never searched for a possible solution (until now, because I just didn't think about it) was the order the accounts appear in both the settings-mail,contacts and calendars AND under mailboxes in the mail app.The accounts are not alphabetized. I've tried deleting and recreating them in order of alphabetization, etc. The only thing that is constant is my Mobileme account is the top one (no matter what, and I have a pretty good idea why this is so.) The remaining 4 accounts are all Google based, both Google Apps and regular Gmail accounts.

View 1 RepliesI am guessing that unless I J****brk my phone, which I don't want to do, that this probably isn't possible, although I for the life of me can't figure out why Apple left this out.
I have 4 mailboxes in my Mail app on my iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Both running iOS 5.1.1. Is it possible to have mail from each mailbox color coded in the All Inboxes section so that I can tell which account the mail came from without having to open each email or work from the inbox listing?
I know that if I J***brk my phone that there are apps that will do this but I don't want to go that route. I J***brok a previous iPhone and had nothing but trouble with it. I just want to be able to sort my email in the combined inbox so that I can tell where the emails came from. Is this really too much to ask?

I have been trying to complete some housekeeping on the iPad Mini 2 with iOS 8.1.1. The first problem was to create Folders to stick the e mails in. This I managed to do via my ISP, though quite a tortuous route to take. In so doing, I now find there are a number of Folders in my .me/.cloud addresses that defy deletion.
Every time I go through the accepted route of Mail/Accounts/Account /Edit/Delete Mailbox Mail shuts down and the Mailbox is still there.
In trying to get rid of the non-required Folders, I went on to my Web Mail account and deleted all the folders I created earlier in the vane belief that if I then Reset the iPad, there would be nothing there for it to pick up and the non-required folders would no longer be synced on to the iPad. This worked fine for the normal e mail address, but the .me/,cloud (Apple) address there are three folders that will not be deleted.
What do I have to do to get them off the iPad? Do I have to get rid of the Mail App and invest in some other Mail App to get rid of the problem? It seems that looking on the internet for an answer, there are a lot of people with the same problem, which seems to stem from iOS 8.1.1.

I'm not all that familiar with this feature, I imagine it's the standard email manager for Macs but I'm a PC-boyo. I don't even use outlook, I never went very far beyond hotmail.
Anyway, I noticed in mail that it dumps all emails into Inbox by default, which is to be expected and thus isn't that bothersome. Strange thing is that it seems to have a Mailboxes feature that implies you can store your emails in folders that aren't the inbox. I used a feature like this in my Hotmail and I found it was quite conveniant, I made a folder for my work, my personal life, family, gaming, etc.
Problem is... I can't see how one creates new Mailboxes. I can bring up the list of mailboxes, but all I see is the inbox, with no options or selections for adding new ones. I couldn't even find anything that looked like that in the iPad's settings.
What's more frustrating is that I saw in the inbox that you can click edit and it offers you the option of moving your emails. Which, again, implies that other mailboxes can be created. But, again..., the move option is pointless because all I've got so far is one inbox.
Has anyone here figured out how to create multiple mailboxes, or is it the program itself that is still a WIP? And the multiple mailboxes are simply not put into use yet.

I want to create new mailboxes or mail folders in my iPad3. What is the procedure to do it?

View 1 RepliesHave a few year old iPad.
Have updated to the latest OS a while ago.
Have totally cleaned out ALL of the Mailboxes.
Every one of them truly shows totally empty.
But- If I go to Settings and Usage, it shows 1.5 GB under Mail and Attachments !
How can this be ?
Is it (still) storing my old Mail in some hidden Folders, or... ?
Turning unit on and off doesn't change anything; still shows 1.5 GB.
I have the most basic unit, and it would sure be nice to be able to use this 1.5 GB for other things.
I am trying to understand how to add additional mailboxes or folders to list of mailboxes in the Mail App. Have not been able to find this in any of the online documentation.
View 9 RepliesI recently updated to a Gen 4 128GB 3G/4G iPad from my previous Gen3 64GB WiFi only. I made a fresh backup of the 3 on iTunes on my MacbookPro and Restored as much of what could be allowed back to the fresh new virgin iPad 4.
Just out of interest, the order from top down of my Mailboxes is now completely changed and I have tried all kinds of tricks to move them but nothing! Is there a way? Although this is my bought and paid for machine I use it a lot to do my work at work and home ( a kind of 24/7 support to fellow staff) simply because its a quicker way than other options my employer provides including Work email which would be great if that Mailbox was at the top of list followed by my main ISP then my Gmail, iCloud and then say VIP.
Seems weird too that it appears in a different order than previously on the other iPad 3.
Just got my new iPad. Set up mail. Am I missing something, or is creating mailboxes and smart mailboxes really absent here? If so, then it's really not going to be possible for me to jettison my laptop top.

View 1 RepliesMy company uses Novell Groupwise. I can open the Web version on my iPad using Safari, and it lists the incoming mail, calendars etc. The Calendar works, but the mail will not open. I get the incoming mailbox, with topics and time/date, but any individual message will not open. I bought this thing to avoid taking a laptop on business trips, but if I can't read my email I wasted my money. I tried forwarding the mail to my .ME account, and again, the mail shows up but there is no content. Comments?
View 9 RepliesI just tested out the Mail application to see if it would automatically retrieve email while I was not in Mail. That "Push" setting is on. I used a different email account on yahoo and sent myself an email but icon on home screen did not show the email coming in (red box with number in it) after waiting about 15 minutes. I then opened Mail and the email came in since it always checks right away. From what I understood, Push setting meant it would automatically retrieve an email whenever it came in, or maybe I misunderstood. What is the point of that new mail red box icon indicator if Mail doesn't retrieve email unless I'm in it and I know already?
View 4 RepliesI have the same problem on iPad and iPhone. When i open mail and connect to POP account, it crashes. I can see mail for a few seconds - there are emails in there from one month ago. Even after i've cleared all emails via webmail, reset my devices, deleted and re added the accounts. Both devices seem to have remembered the old emails - any idea how I can solve this?!
