I was reading some technical news sites and noticed a article about a new version of iBooks. I went to the app store and searched for iBooks but the results only show a April release date version. How do you know when a app ( free or paid ) has released a new version ?

I know that I need to wait for the next jailbreak to come out before I upgrade my iPad again,do I need to wait for different jailbreaks to come out before upgrading iTunes?I would be upgrading to iTunes version 10, but really want to know if it's a general rule that I'm good to go to update iTunes whenever the updates come out, but to wait on the iPad updates until the new jailbreaks come out?

So far I have seen news of two iOS updates--4.3.4 and 4.3.5.How do I update the os on my iPad ? It does not seem to update itself and I don't see anything about this in the app store or iTunes.

I sync apps for my iPad and iPhone on my iMac iTunes app.
On the iMac, the "Apps" menu item in the Library bar on the left hand side of my iTunes has a number "3" next to it. I click there and at the bottom of the window, it says I have "3 Updates Available". So I click there. But then the next window tells me that I have "no updates currently available" and that "to check for updates to another account, sign in with that account".
I have no other accounts. So, the number "3" now sits next to the word "Apps" all the time in iTunes, even if there are no updates to download. Can't get rid of it. How do I get rid of it?
This seems to have started some time after my son visited. He used my iTunes to buy some music to burn to CD, so he signed in, bought the music, and then signed back out. I then signed back in. Could it have anything to do with computer authorizations? Not on this end: I only have one computer, my iMac, authorized. Any other ideas? I want to get rid of that phantom "3"!

Does anyone know if there's any way to prevent an app from applying an update that has already been downloaded? I just downloaded an update in itunes and then went to the developer's page to see what it included, and it's a major update with a caveat that certain things will get broken if it's applied. Those things happen to matter to me, so I'm not sure how to deal with this, other than not letting the ipad sync till a version with a fix is released. Anyone know any other way?

View 16 RepliesThe App Store on my iPad 2 says that there are 23 apps to update. I click on "update all" and the screen moves to the screen with the first app on the list. Then nothing happens. There is no indication that information is being downloaded. No swirling icon in the upper left page. No blue bar moving across the base of the app icon. I have already tried turning it completely off and back on again. I have already tried connecting it to my MacBook Pro, clicking on "check for available downloads" in iTunes, then syncing (apps included). I have tried logging out and logging back into my iTunes account with my Apple ID. I have tried resetting my network settings and logging back into my home wifi network. I have tried enabling automatic downloads of app in the Store Settings.I have tried downloading app updates individually rather than via Update All. If I touch one of the app icons I get a message stating "Unable to Download Application [app name] could not be downloaded at this time" with "done" or "retry" buttons. I have tried retry and get the same message.

I've been trying since the release of 5.1 but have yet been able to update any of my devices. I'm waiting to update 2 iPads and 2 iPhones but they're all just hanging with an eventual time out message.
Tried from iTunes and from the devices software update but no go. It's pretty poor considering they should know the numbers.
I have 8 pending updates, and every time i update it asks for my dads apple id. I download ONE app using his apple id, and i deleted that app. I tried redownloading some apps, and it still doesnt work. I reset my apple id password and my dads id still shows up in updates.
