I have an iPad 2. All of a sudden my home button stopped working, and the battery wont charge. I cannot put the ipad into recovery mode because the home button does not work. I can't reset either because of this problem. It also wont let me connect to itunes. It does not recognize the usb cord when I plug it in.

For the last few weeks my iPad home key only works some of the time. Lately I have to push it numerous times to get the screen to wake up. Often when I am in an app and want to switch back to my home page, it won't work or I have to hold it for 10 seconds to get it to work.
I have done the home and power reset many times to try to get it working again. Sometimes this helps for awhile, but not always. I have not done a restore from iTunes. Has anyone done a restore and had it fix their home key problems? Any other solutions out there, before I go to the Genius Bar?

The Home button (the one on the face with the little circle) stopped working! I found out on the web that this is a fairly common problem.
View 4 RepliesI bought my ipad 2 in February this year; about 6 weeks ago the home button started getting less responsive until finally last week it would work rarely, I cleaned the jack port on the bottoom in case there was debris but there wasn`t. I also recalibrated the home button. After browsing forums yesterday I tried holding the off button and home button on together to reset the ipad. This seemed to improve it but this morning it stopped working entirely so I went for a factory reset and reinstalled from an icloud backup. This has all been to no avail, the home button is still not working. Does anyone have any views as to whether this is hardware or software? I`m inclined to think it is software as it got worse after the reset. Before I take it to be repaired and being charged for a techno wizard to just press a few buttons does anyone have any final pearls of wisdom? I have enabled assistive touch but I really want to get to the route of the problem.

View 1 RepliesI just received my ipad2 today (germany), that i ordered online. after syncing it with itunes i turned it on went straight to settings and when i was done and wanted to go back to the home screen the home button did not work. I tried everything (turning it off and on, restore through itunes) but it seems to be a mechanical problem. does anyone else have this problem with a brand new ipad? i called apple and they told me that they could send me a replacement, which would be a refurbished ipad, which really doesnt make much sense, since mine is brand new. i could of course cancel my order and just send it back, but if i order a new one i would have to wait quite some time once again to get it.
View 9 RepliesThe home button on my iPad 2 (white 16 gig AT&T 3G model) works perfectly sometimes, but next thing I know it's not responding, even if I press it like 10 times. It's new, but I don't think it's a hardware issue. It seems random, but today it's happening more often.
I'm using the latest iOS (not 5.0 beta) and I have the smart cover on it, maybe that's doing something to it. I've had every iPhone and the last iPad, but I've never had this problem. I'm pressing it with the same force as my iPhone, and my previous iPad.
What can I do about my home button sticking on my ipad2. I've only had my ipad for 5 months.

I said that my 3 month old iPad 2 button was very intermittent. Now, it has completely stopped working. I don't have access to an apple store until April 24-28. If I take my iPad 2 in that week, is it guaranteed that I get a "new" one right there and then on the spot? Since I don't live anywhere near an apple store, I can't just leave my iPad there and wait for a new one to be sent to me because I don't have a shipping address. So to make a long story short, do I get a replacement right there and then on the spot?

My iPad 2 doesn't charge when plugged into the wall or used port. I also tried multiple cables. Also my home button doesn't work. What might be the problem. Now only 9% battery left.
