I had my iphone first. now i have the pad. When I sync the pad, the iphone apps go on the pad. is this suppose to happen? if then I sync my phone will the pad apps go on the phone also? have not synced the phone since seeing this new issue.

View 1 RepliesYesterday I connected my mums ipad to my laptop in order to copy over some video files on to the vlc app.It worked great.However today when I connected my own ipad I get the message "An iPad has been previously synced with this computer" and 2 options either set up as a new ipad or restore from a backup from a few weeks ago.Neither of these options are good, as I have data from the past 2 weeks I don't want to lose.
View 3 RepliesI was running most of my stuff off of an external hard drive, including iTunes and all of it's fluff.My computer was a Windows XP PC running iTunes 10, the only other computer in the house is an old Mac that's on OS X 10.4, so it can't run anything above iTunes 9. It will probably be a while before I can get my own computer fixed/replaced, so I would like to sync to my sister's comp in the meantime.
I've plugged the drive into the Mac, and it does seem to see it (and the Library stored on it), but I don't know how to open up that Library. The "shift start" that usually allows you to select the Library file you just transfered over doesn't do anything. I'm not sure if it's because Macs use something other than Shift (all the last times I did it successfully I was on a PC), or if it's some sort of incompatibility between iTunes 9 and 10.
I saw this on another thread but does the iPad really need to be synced through itunes?If so then wow this will fail. I was rooting for it but that is a huge disadvantage for many consumers.

View 6 RepliesI just purchased my 64GB 3G WiFi iPad2, did a clean install, painstakingly got all my apps back in their folders where I had them with my iPad1, and when I went to upload my pictures to my iPad2 I get the message of
"iPad2 cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
This error occurs every time I try to sync my photos to my iPad 2. I searched on the web for a solution, found one possible solution by deleting my "iPod iPhoto Cache" from my Pictures folder (not the Library folder) and I cannot get my pictures on my iPad no matter what I try. I get that error message over and over and over again.
It seems none of my apps can be synced with my new iPad because they are not compatible...

Recently I purchased a new computer, due to the fact that my last computer became non-operational because of a virus. I had to completely wipe it, which caused me to loose all of my data. Since this was the computer with the iTunes that I originally registered my iPad with my original iTunes Was deleted. Now that I have Re-Installed iTunes on my new computer, when i try to sync my iPad. It tells me that i can only be connected to one iTunes, then it gives me the option to erase the content and replace with the new iTunes or to Transfer my purchases and data. When I tried to Transfer my purchases it would not let me because the new iTunes is not authorized to play purchases. What can i do so that i do not lose all of the data from my original iTunes (Purchased Apps, Music, Photos, etc) trying to sync with my new itunes?

I sync mp4 files from my iMac to my iPad. The progress bar shows the movie file synching and completes. When I go to my iPod icon on my iPad, there is no 'movies' category. I cannot find the MP4 files.

I just got my 64gb iPad and have been working at syncing it with my iTunes library on my computer. All was going well until my computer crashed. When I rebooted it and reconnected my iPad everything appeared normal and the syncing process continued from where it left off. The problem is that even though all indications from my computer and from the available space left on the iPad say the all 4000+ music tracks and videos are now moved the iPod application and Video application on the iPad only show those items before the computer crashed.
So my question is, is there a way to force these applications to rescan the iPad to find the files that are there but not showing without having to start over from scratch?

I have 5 movies on my iTunes on my Mac. I want to sync them onto the iPad. When I sync them (having checked the boxes for them and made sure there is plenty of space) only 4 of the 5 are on the iPad. The same one doesnt appear every time.
Strangely, it appears in the movies section of the iPad on iTunes, to say it is there, but I cant find it on the actual iPad. It does not appear in the movie section of the iPad and I cant see where else it would be.
any ideas as to why it is not appearing on the iPad even though iTunes thinks it has synced it?

Has anyone else noticed that upgrading to iOS 4.2 added an "On My iPad" calendar to their calendar list? This didn't happen when I upgraded my iPhone and, frankly, I don't want it there, because I want all my calendars synced through MobileMe.Does anyone know if there's a way to get rid of this calendar? I know I can simply ignore it, but I don't want to accidentally make an entry on this calendar that will then fail to sync to MobileMe. So I'd prefer simply to get rid of it. As I said, there's no equivalent on my iPhone, and I like it that way.
