opened ipad 3g 64 and connected to minimac, downloaded latest itunes and all the ipad does is show the sync to itunes icon then the ipad goes to sleep. Any ideas?

Is there anyway to get itunes to sync on itunes load.. but not open itunes everytime the iphone is plugged in?
what i have is a program that opens itunes once a file is converted to an mp4 and added to itunes. so i want it to sync on itunes open but i dont want it to load itunes automatically and sync once the ipad/iphone is plugged in
(i have an htpc, it kind of annoying when itunes pops up.. i have the itunes loading on a scheduled task at 3AM when im not loading the machine.
i recently purchased the ipad yesterday. i have updated the itunes software and when i click sync, i get a status bar as if it were syncing. However, about 2 seconds later it stops syncing as if it were complete. I do have an ipod associated with this computer, self built windows 7 os, as well.any advice would be great.

Having never downloaded any video I thought I would do a test on my touch.
Went into iTunes store and downloaded a tv show into iTunes.
Then I went to iTunes and hit the tv button. Saw the downloaded show and checked the boxes.
When I hit sync I got a message that said iTunes would erase all of my videos and music if I proceeded. I hit sync and it downloaded the tv show and true to it's word it erased all of my music from the I touch.
What possible logic is at play here. How can you sync video from iTunes if this is the result?
After trying to sync my iPad 2 I got a message on my iPad screen that informed me 4 items could not be synced and to see iTunes for details. I am looking at my laptop and there is no message what so ever. I can not seem to find anything like a log of last sync. I am now going to check out my iPad and see what might not have been synced.
View 1 RepliesMy ipad returned from the repair centre, I plugged it in to return everything saved from my computer and my itunes now tells me I have nothing, music, apps and games are none existant. All tunes bought are not even in itunes let alone the ipad backup. Is there any way to get to the items I purchased without trying to memorise or browse through the poor version of the ipads app store?

When it auto locks, does it go to sleep? Or when you manually lock it by pressing the power button?
After using an App made specifically for the iPad and then try to turn off/put my iPad to sleep, it does not react at all. If I then start an App which was designed for the iPhone, then pressing the button on the top of the iPad leads directly to the iPad switching to sleep mode.
This does not happen with all iPad apps. Any ideas?

I went to my Apple Tech Support people and they got my I Pad up and running. The head of tech support there said I should just leave the I Pad in sleep mode and don't have to turn it off. I've been reading different forums and there seems to be differences in what people think.
can I keep it in sleep mode? or must I shut it down?

Yes, Printopia works flawlessly in printing wirelessly through Air Print off the iPad. EXCEPT when your Mac goes to sleep! Then Air Print and Printopia don't connect.
Do we have to live with this, or else keep the Mac on all the time (not very green), and never allow it to go to sleep automatically? A bit disappointing.
Any ideas on how to keep the iPad screen from going to sleep due to inactivity? I want to use it as a calendar on my desk, but it doesn't do much good if I can't see the screen after a few minutes.
View 14 RepliesSince I updated my iPad (which worked flawless since it's June purchase) to IOS 4.2.1, I am having issues with sleep mode. Often when the it comes out of sleep mode, it is in recovery mode and will not wake using the normal method. The only options I have to get it to start is either reboot (hold down on & home) or connect to a computer and let it detect the iPad in recovery mode and restore. Is anyone out there experiencing this?

Hi, Q refers to iPad syncing and BU: We/I own 2 iPads ( love it !) - I guess, I possibly made a mistake by configuring the newly bought 3G (=#2) also with the same name ('iPad', as the first one). - 1)HOW do I make sure from now on, when syncing or doing backups that actually 2 versions exist and iTunes then picks the right one ( eg: my wife's one vs my 3G) for doing the syncing. - 2) IS there any way to RENAME one of the 2,other than resetting/erasing it to factory settings and start all over ?
